Would anyone care for a flow chart?
I made this ages ago, but I don't think it ever loses its relevance!

Some dialogue tagging tips, in case anyone's peckish.
I forgot to proof read it.
There is no prior Bob and Jeff lore, btw. They were spawned into existence to be examples and quickly developed... multiple issues, apparently. I'm sure they'll be fine.
A punnett square for your troubles.
The IKEA Litmus Test for Writing Spicy Scenes
I asked one person if this actually worked and 100% of respondents agreed, so I guess I'm posting this. Sorry.
So, you've written a sex scene, but find yourself asking, "Is this really sexy?" Thanks to whatever demons live inside my brain, we now have a simple method to answer that question!
All you need to do is replace all mentions of Naughty Bits with "Tab A" and/or "Slot B" to verify the fundamental sexiness. Is it still sexy? Can you make it sexy?
Example incoming — Imma try adding a partition because, in spite of the language, this is clearly... not IKEA instructions ._.
Also for the immense Cringe Factor like seriously what is up with me?
Did somebody ask for Subtextomancy 101? No? Well, you're getting it anyway!
Of course, this can be used for, y'know, good! But it's easier to demonstrate with chaotic neutral.
I was using another popular platform to monologue into the void about writing, but the Bot Invasion is doing my head in, so I moved to another-nother popular platform, but the character limit doesn't align with my tendency to go on a bit, so I guess I'm here now.
Will I remember I have this account? Maybe.
But anyway, I'm a writer. I've been working on my current WIP (if you can even call it that at this point, it's basically done) for like 4 years now and I'm kinda obsessed with it. I'm tentatively considering starting a new project while I finalise the details of ATOTH. I intend to self publish because the thought of relinquishing control gives me anxiety, plus I've seen the trad pub process up close and I'm not that patient... or willing to alter my vision to adhere to industry standards. I sometimes write short form, poetry and fanfic too.
My writing resources are tagged as #Mighty Writey Tip if you wanna check them out!
I'm a pretty good writer, but I'm also really bad at other stuff, so it may give me an overinflated sense of success! Who knows?
Mighty Writey Tip!
If you're a writer and you keep seeing stuff like, "How do you decide how long your chapters are?" or "You need to make sure your chapters are all the same length!" etc, feel free to ignore it.
Chapters should only ever be as long as they need to be. Getting hung up on chapter length can lead to adding unnecessary padding or cutting necessary detail. Variety is the spice of life!
Of course, you're free to ignore this too! Do whatever feels right with your chapter lengths — that's an order!
