All That Glitters

Loki cantered down the Bifrost, the scarlet cape of his not-father whipping out behind him as each step of the eight-beat sent another ray of light into the stream of the rainbow bridge as it worked. His thoughts hung heavy with the weight of the stirring unrest in Asgard following the destruction in the realm, and it took more effort than he liked to use in order to appear of sound mind.
Thor's return was a long time coming, but Loki was well aware that forcing him to remain would have likely done more harm than good. For all that he hoarded his anger toward his brother like a dragon would gold, his presence in the kingdom would help the people feel secure once more. That was something Asgard direly needed.
The inner workings of the observatory were just winding to a halt as Loki dismounted and crossed the threshold. "My son," he greeted with a nod as the final wisps of dark energy that powered the bridge dissipated into the air. "It's good to see you home."
