Been meaning to go into a more in depth ramble Mermaid Mask (and a little bit about Tangle Tower). This ramble is going to involve both games and involve MAJOR END GAME spoilers for both Tangle Tower and The Mermaid Mask. These spoilers quite literally reveal the culprits. So, don't click the 'Keep Reading' button if you don't want to be spoiled.
Alright. If you clicked that keep reading, then you're good with major endgame spoilers. Also, my thoughts are going to be all over the place.
First, I think it's interesting how much of a parallel there is between the two games. In Tangle Tower, the ending is quiet. Grimoire and Sally solved the case. They did it. But, there's no fanfare. It's quiet. Lonely even. When I played the game, I called Penelope someone that was lonely.
Then there's Godrik. This time around everyone is here and everyone gets answers to the things that would haunt them if things were left unsaid. Symmetry especially.
Both games, to me, have the idea of letting go and characters that either don't want to let go, are willing, or are afraid to.
Other people have said, and I agree, that it's super interesting that there's some questions that the game presents to you that have no solid answer. Between who Penelope Pointer really is as a person and what Mortuga planned on doing with the Mermaid Mask.
Also, I do like how both Madam Tadpole and Dirk both go to protect Sym during the game. Dirk during the beginning, pulling her away from the murder scene. Tadpole near the end, standing in front of her and guarding her from Godrik when his facade finally shattered.
That entire ending scene was insane too. Grimoire and Sally both chasing after Godrik to get the mask back while the rest of the suspects are trying to make sure everyone collectively can survive whatever the fuck is happening with HER.
Anyways, I might play the game again and really take it all in now knowing who done it. I'll also look through the screenshots I took as well.
So sum up all of this is to say that I loved this game. Holy shit. What the fuck.
