9. “What’re you afraid of?”
You and Milo have spent the last two hours asking each other questions to get to know each other more intimately.
It’s been a wonderful date, and you already feel so much closer to him.
Despite this, though, his next question has you hesitating.
“What’re you afraid of?” His tone is unassuming and gentle, as always. You know he’d never push you, but because you want so badly to share everything with him, you push yourself.
You begin to explain your worst fears, most of them entwined with one another. Your voice is quiet, and you can only bear to glance at him every so often.
When you’re finished, there’s only a moment of silence before he pulls you into a hug. It nearly steals the air from your lungs. He’s so warm, those big arms enveloping you wholly, and you can feel his heartbeat coaxing yours to slow. Even his scent comforts you. Relaxing against him like this, your vision begins to blur with tears.
He thanks you for telling him something so vulnerable, and that he feels grateful getting to know you—all of you.
