Postcards from Milwaukee - Coming to the Milwaukee Art Museum
A selection of work from the Postcards from Milwaukee exhibition on 2 May 2014 was selected for inclusion in another exhibition - this time at the Milwaukee Art Museum, to run this summer in conjunction with the Magnum Photographer's Postcards from America: Wisconsin exhibition. The selected works will be displayed in the museum's Pieper Gallery.
Darren Hauck was the juror for the work to be displayed. Darren is a freelance, documentary photographer who has worked extensively in the US and around the world. Originally from Milwaukee, he has a BFA from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. We are very fortunate to have his involvement in the next iteration of Postcards from Milwaukee.
Darren spent about 2 hours looking over our class images before coming to his final selection for the exhibition. Bob Smith, Lisa Sutcliffe, and Jon Horvath were all in attendance helping to answer any questions Darren may have had about the work, as well as offering a description of how the work actually lives in physical form. In the end, Darren selected the work of 10 artists to be included in the MAM show:
Danielle Dahl Hollister Donovan Mikayla Husting Kayla Massey Stephanie Grace Pluta Elizabeth Rath Jamie Robarge Cassie Rogala Kyle Seis Missy Ziebart
Congratulations to all!

Wall Family Home Movie - Mikayla Husting
Mikayla Husting (UWM), will be looking into Milwaukee’s past through the eyes of the Wall family - presumably a young couple with three small children who recorded their life in the city onto 8mm film in the 1960s and 1970s. Through digitally recording the playback of these home movies, Mikayla will select events that are most interesting to her and recreate or reinterpret the experiences of the Wall family.
Thanks to everyone who could make it to our UWM Photography BFA Exhibition. For those of you who couldn't make it, here's a little video of what you missed.
