“How do we stand it, the tragedy of time always slipping through our fingers?”
Told in fragments, Mike DeCapite's Jacket Weather explores memory, time and romance in a manner that evokes feelings of all three in an effectively unreliable, wandering manner. Sadly, as a whole the book winds up being a bit too disjointed for my liking. While that actually kinda works thematically, it hurts the development of the characters these fragments spend the most time with (aside from Lou, he's just great), as well as the flow of it all, and makes for an ending that doesn't satisfy the way many moments throughout are able to on their own.
