The New York Giants made a few roster moves on Wednesday. Tight end Tommy Stevens was signed; offensive lineman Joe Looney retired. On Wednesday, the New York Giants signed tight end Tommy Stevens. Button wins Australian GP

Jenson Button dominated the first Grand Prix of 2012 to win the race ahead of two times world champion Sebastian Vettel and team mate Lewis Hamilton. 

The battle going in to the first corner secured Button his lead over Hamilton whilst Mark Webber was pushed down into 9th place.

After fantastic qualifying Romain Grosjean ended his Australian GP dreams at the sixth turn. He clashed with Pastor Maldonador breaking his steering column as he went through the gravel trap. Before the the end of the first lap, Sebastian Vettel made his move overtaking Nico Rosberg

The two McLaren's pulled away from the tangle of cars whilst Merceedes Rosberg put a huge amount of pressure on Vettel.

Lap 8 saw Button increase the gap between himself and Hamilton to a mighty three seconds, whilst Vettel began to close the gap on fellow German Schumacher. 

The gap between Button and Hamilton grew to ten seconds before the team decided to pit. Button had a quick stop and was straight back out first, where as Hamilton got unlucky and was held up behind Raikkonen and Perez. When Raikkonen pitted, it left Hamilton fighting for second place with Perez. 

A saftey car brought out by an engine failure for Petrov, allowed Vettel to retain his second place on re start. 

Towards the end of the race there was a battle midfield between Force India's di Resta and the two Torro Rossa's. It was a tussle that gave the young Brit some success finishing ahead of Vergne but behind Ricciardo.

Vettel was unable to overtake Button, mirrored by Webber's attempts to take Hamilton for third position, leaving Button to finish first on the podium, and allowing Mclaren to lead the constructors championship. 

At the end of the race Jenson Button said:

"Every victory means a lot – but today shows just how important it was to have a strong winter. The starts of the past two seasons have both been tricky for us, so today is really encouraging. The guys at the circuit and all the men and women back in Woking have done an amazing job to get us here. Today means a lot to me, and I’m sure it’ll mean a lot to all of them too: it’ll make those extra hours worked in the early hours of the morning all the more worthwhile, because we know we can do great things with this car."
