Ciaooo! I hope you're doing alright bellissima 🫂 💖, and if not, I wish you a speedy recovery from whatever is making you feel unwell. I'll fist-fight sciatica pain for you.
As always, I don't want to pressure you into revealing any spoilers. So feel free to ignore this (or part of this ask) if it doesn't feel like the right moment to share.
Anyway, I was wondering... We've seen romantic headcanons for Davi, Fermín, Querardo, and Carlos, but what about Samuel?
Especially with Fermín crushing on him, his conservative Catholic upbringing and both of his best friends being into other boys(?).
Also, I'm currently so invested in Davi's one-sided infatuation with Pereiro.
I have my own ship featuring Davi, whose relationship starts when he yearns for someone who doesn't quite reciprocate his feelings. As a result, he ends up entering a sort of friends-with-benefits arrangement with another friend/acquaintance to fill the void left by that unrequited love and eventually falls for him instead. And I'd love to know if, by chance, our headcanons actually fit with each other all the way.
Is Pereiro ever going to know about Davi's feelings? Will he ever reciprocate his feelings, at least to some extent?
THANK YOUUU COSAAAAA!!! 🥺💕 My sciatica keeps fading and re-appearing, so all I can do is to be careful :'D
Now onto the replies... When it comes to love, at least during the FFI, Samuel is just this:
He just couldn't care less, and even more when there's a damn tournament to win. Hell, he can't help but cringe whenever Isaac and/or Querardo flirt with girls. The latter is specially a headache the more it messes with training, so there comes a time where Samuel is going to interfere like "Shut up about your girlfriend, man".
BUT when he is actively interested on love, he does have an advantage compared to that of his friends... He's surprisingly respectful to women. They are one of the few things he's not a total douche with. On his defense, he was raised by a very resilient lady who had to work even harder after her husband became incapacitated. So, he wouldn't mind letting his girlfriend to lead things up if necessary. In fact, by GO he decides to temporally become a "stay at home father" just so his wife can keep working.
Now regarding MikeDavi... To sum up my reply; yes! But it's a bit tricky.
After the FFI, Mikel's opinion on Davi improved a bit, at least vs the start of the tournament. They were just aquantainces and nothing more. However, on the following years he'd notice some strange behaviors on him. First off, on the following months he'd be surprised by an influx of letters from Madrid, where Davi seemed very eager to talk; often asking about how things were in Galicia, his family, etc. Mikel would reply to these out of respect, but he'd still be confused by this contrast.
Irl its where things would get weirder, on the rare ocassions Davi would be invited to meetings by Joan or Pedro. His social skills were improving and he'd be less cranky (Though still struggling to take jokes or banter), but whenever he and Mikel were alone, his seriousness would crack down: Davi would try to open himself up and keep the conversation going, although his voice would crack and at times he'd break eye contact. Oddly enough, Mikel was able to recall a similar vibe from their final conversation at Liocott. But why would Davi act this way with him? Did he only want to befriend him? Or were his own vibes too intimidating?
Eventually, it hit him. Could it be a crush?
...Sexuality wise, this wouldn't be a problem. Mikel had come out years ago to his parents after all. But even then, he struggled to understand why Davi would fall in love with him of all people. And at least by that point, the idea of entering a relationship with him gave off mixed feelings.
Around the time adulthood came for both, the letters stopped and Davi's social media became almost silent; apparently as to dedicate himself on a his university career. Mikel got used to this, continuing with his life as usual, though at times he couldn't help but wonder about what Davi intended.
On the few conversations they had online, Mikel casually mentioned about his residence on Vigo and the situation of its local junior soccer club, Carnyx FC. And after some more exchanges and a proposal... Davi transferred to his first job after graduation.
Training children wasn't easy, lemme say, specially by their rebellious nature and the generational gap on interests. But there was a small catch, and is that the students seemed to be fond of the local arts and crafts teacher, "Mr. Pereiro". So, the following years became a joint effort to help these kids reach the top.
During this time, Mikel was able to see how much Davi had changed since then. His love for spanish football was present, being overjoyed whenever his boys had an important win. However, in case of failure, he was more now forgiving. Their relationship had also improved, finally considering themselves as proper friends.
However, some months before Davi's contract ending, Mikel noticed once again those same flustered emotions from time ago. This time around he wasn't going to let them pass by, so one night, he decided to sit and talk with Davi about it. Let's just say that the madrilenian felt cornered at first, guilty by how much he had failed to hide himself. Yet, knowing all the trust the two had placed within each other, Davi just knew it wasn't worth to keep any more secrets.
So, he told everything, all those feelings he gained during the FFI, how they kept tormenting him till he finally "gave up"; and how they had returned to him by his time on Galicia. In there, Davi was now facing what he truly feared: Judgement.
Despite his fear, Mikel's reply wasn't something he expected. Yes, Davi could still be grumpy at times, he could struggle to take jokes well, and even his tastes could be described as "old-fashioned". However, it was that passion, that dedication to it -the same one as Mikel's love for art- that kept attracting him. Plus, his flustered state just made him cuter in his eyes. So, regardless of how long it would last... Mikel was curious on trying.
Their honeymoon phase was sweet, even if their romantic interactions had to be reserved for indoors for many reasons. Plus, when Davi's contract ended, the two were forced to make it into a Long Distance Relationship instead. It's not bad as the trip distance is short (Spain's a small country!), but Davi's busy job means they'll have to spend long periods of time since they can meet again. Nonetheless... Everytime he steps in Vigo, Davi ALWAYS buys some flowers and chocolates beforehand :')
...Aaaaand. That's it. In an older version I had for this setting, Davi would be coaching instead an *adult* soccer team which Mikel was playing for. However, my main reason to change it is that those types of teams would require more experience than what Davi has by GO (<- Which kinda explains why most grown up OGs in GO also train junior high teams). There's still some stuff I'm undecided about these two fro VROH, but I like what I have so far.
..........Ngl, the scenario you mention oddly enough fits a cursed "what if" situation I had with Nuno of all things, but I'm so damn curious over who you ship Davi with. Redomata ships always make me joyful, so feel free to share it🙏🇪🇸 ♥ Thank you for your ask!!
Christmas' over, so on the time before 2025 ends I'd like to get back on track on posting some leftover stuff.
Here's a drawing meant for November 8th (iykyk), later it was moved to the 9th (The VR Eve (?)), and then... I had to save it on my drafts 💀 But here it is, anyway.
I always liked specifically red matador hcs you make? Besides Querardo and Fermin do u have any specific hcs on the other members??
Honestly im really interested in Davi’s it’s interesting when you wrote on his relationship with Mikel.
Again i hope your always healthy physically and mentally!!
Thank you Nutty!! Sciatica pain at its worst rn but I'm keeping strong 💪
For Red Matador, I have HCs for ALL of them! 😭 I'd honestly go and write something for every member minus Que/Fer/Samu buuuut. I fear might go overboard.
So I'm going to take advantage of your ask and write about Davi in detail!!! Bc maintaining the MikeDavi agenda is now my main priority
The following writing is inspired by my own pet peeves as I was reading all the stuff I wrote back in 2023-2024. There were some things from Davi I felt like I just couldn't explain the "why" of, or stuff that has changed since then. What I'll write back below is what I currently have for him. Also all under a Read More bc it might be long.
Similar to Querardo and Samuel, Davi does struggle in regards to external opinions. The relationship with his parents is quite good (I'd say even better than the other two), but their passion for soccer often leads to them being overly supportive, to the point he refuses to dissapoint them at any chance and specially not himself. He's one of the best players of the country, a winner of two Spanish Youth Leagues, the son of two people very high onto the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation), and so on! There's no way a guy like him should be losing!
Losing at the Community Cup was a huge surprise, but it wasn't enough to unnerve him (yet), as he still held his prestige nonetheless. He also didn't mind the possibility of co-joining with the Top 3 teams as to participate on the upcoming FFI. However, when RM was formed, being the only one from Madrid made him PISSED. Regardless of how tense his relationship with his teammates was, they still had skill!!! So to see them replaced with so-called "fodder" made him mad; and it took him a while to cooperate with players that weren't from Navarre or Andalusia.
Now as to slowly tie him with Mikel... Galicia was the 4th place on the CC, but despite their high place Davi still had mixed feelings about its representatives. To make things worse, he found out that the only "worthy" galician player on his eyes (Which we'll call Aveiro for now) was now playing for Portugal. After it became known that Aveiro and Mikel were childhood friends and also had a similiar origin, Davi's initial comments were something like "Pereira should've been in Portugal instead", which wasn't taken very kindly 😬
Eventually the two did grow on him; in Mikel's case by proving himself during the matches aganist Aveiro and his team, becoming an even greater player than what Davi initially thought. But of course, being overly focused on others' skills and paying little attention to his own came with its price. The moment it became increasingly harder to keep that same "promising player" image in front of his parents, specially with the worsening streak that RM at Liocott, the more his mental state declined.
However while his feelings for his teammates can be described more as jealously, Mikel is a weird zone for Davi. The frustation over him surpassing his own skills is present, but they also live alongside a strange sense of admiration for the galician player. He loves how attentive he is, how caring he is for the smaller teammates, how he's not afraid of voicing his own discomfort face to face....
Although I haven't fully planned it yet, I like that Davi's arc reaches a huge point as he confronts Mikel and the other field midfielders before the Brockenborg match; mostly after Joan finally makes him open up. And is here where Davi realizes he's not the only one who is afraid of loss. This friend group might look happy, but even then they have their own individual burden. I'll talk about Igor/Joan/Pedro in another occasion, but in Mikel's case the thought of his dear friend not being able to enter the FFI -by either of his two nationalities- tormented him since they qualified for Liocott; so he constantly tried to do as best as he could for him. However, -and what Davi admires from him- he's realistic. If he wins he wins, but if he fails, he's just accepts it. The thought of losing everything they have worked for can be terrifying... But as someone whose boat models have failed and broke several times, he considers this feeling a part of life. All you have to do is start again.
So, despite having been untrustful to Davi for the most part, this exchange about everyone's own worries has made Mikel start seeing him in a positive way... For the first time.
I also like that after its all over (Either in Liocott or in their final time in Madrid), I like that Davi approaches Mikel by himself and expresses his admiration, alongside a proper apology for having underestimated him since the beginning. It's a bit late, sure... But he has come a long way to finally do this.
Sorry if some things are hard to read, unlike other RM things I haven't written about their dynamic for so long and even then there's things I change as I go by. Just keep in mind that Davi has a weird ass one-sided infatuation with Mikel and he has zero idea what to do with it, specially after the FFI is over 😭
