"Mike Donald is a professional salesman - a fact he makes good use of in these songs. He was born in Scunthorpe, educated in Hull, and now works for an educational publishing concern in Leeds. For ten years Mike has clocked up 40,000 miles par year selling confectionery, washing machine and, more recently, audio-visual equipment. Mike has visited most towns and villages between the Midlands and the Scottish border, and has entertained in Working Men's Clubs, Folk Clubs, hotels, churches, on ferryboats on the Humber, and even on specially charted trains to Wales and Scotland, as well as radio and TV. His musical background is varied, with experience in Skiffle, Rock, and Rhythm and Blues groups, and dance bands. Mike has used his Yorkshire upbringing and wide musical background to produce his own material, which he describes as 'not quite folk': this is his third record.
