Art I love! • • • The first episode of 2000ad's 'The VCs' was drawn by Mick McMahon. The editor wanted to hire him to design the look of the series, but without a development budget they instead got him to draw the opening episode. Problem solved! Mick McMahon's first ever Judge Dredd from 2000ad Prog 6. 'Frankenstein 2' is the first strip he drew, the first dozen or so stories were not published in order of creation. Notice it says JUDGE on his badge, not Dredd. This is from the original art. It is photographed on a lightboard.so you can see the alterations done by editorial staff. This strip was heavily censored, as it was drawn before ACTION comic was banned in late 1976... so 2000ad had to alter it's violent content. You can see the two bad guys hidden under the giant speech balloon on page one, one of them holding up a gun in the pose Mick would make iconic for Judge Dredd...here on his very strip! #2000ad #judgedredd #mickmcmahon #mikemcmahon #scifi #comics #comicbook #originalart
