"MikeTua nation" and it's literally just me 😭
Obviously as a fan of the people it's sad and disappointing. Mike in particular is such a sweet man and a good guy, and Tua has been through so much in his life. Both of them have had to fight so hard just to live their dreams -- dreams that didn't end up working out. My heart hurts for both of them, in that respect.
But as a fan of the team, it kind of had to happen, and I think it's for the best for everyone involved. They both have major flaws from a football perspective, and there's a reason Miami hasn't been good for a quarter century. There's something in the water down there. I think a change of scenery could do them both some good, and I wish them nothing but the best.
Me personally, part of my heart will always be with the MikeTua era of the Dolphins. It was exciting and thrilling and so tender in so many ways. Then there were times of sadness and frustration too. There were so many highs and so many lows, but ultimately, their era gave me true hope as a fan for the first time in so long. They did wonderful things together and they clearly had so much love for each other.
It's sad that it's ending this way irl, but that's the thing about being an RPF writer. The characters I write about aren't real. They're embodiments of what I've perceived from them over the years, and as a shipper and an RPF writer, I'll always have my memories of their time together to keep inspiring me. Hopefully their love can be preserved by my blog and continue to live on in my fics. As of right now, I still have like 130k more words to say about them, so... Yeah, I intend to keep on talking. ❤️
