Ready As I'll Ever Be, Tender Hearted
X
Juro was... quiet.
His eyes were trained down at the goat, blindfold tucked into a pocket of his suit, and watching Milae fuss over him--he was saying something, he was sure, yet it all passed over his head. He couldn't grasp much of the bustle and preparations around him. The grim night was finally upon them, a war they were heading for. The Rebellion that was about to set out isn't ever going to be the same again upon their return. And yet, despite the weeks of physical and mental training that both seidkonur and demon had helped him with, it was plenty surreal.
All the Bookkeeper could do was smile silently.

Poor Chisels for Peaceful Tomorrows (Part 2)
Part 1
“Can we relax and try not to tempt fate for a second,” the laugh that escaped was slightly strained as a slender hand made to grab Milae’s hoof and pull him back to safety. It was insincere, however. Juro was every much as curious and high tensioned as the half breed. He watched as the construct struggled and screamed, smile on his cheek and furrow in his brow. He wasn’t aware, but he had defaulted to that defensive face before he knew it, his other hand trembling slightly around his unused pen as Pooka and demon conversed.
“She doesn’t have enough,” he murmured, one amber eye following the jerking motions very carefully, turning its attention towards its new battleground as Jari tried to talk her down. He leaned forward, as if trying to see better, but also like he needed, or wanted to be nearer. “Milae, maybe I could he--” The word was caught in his throat.
Poor Chisels For Peaceful Tomorrows (Pt. 3)
Part 2
"What are you doing."
Juro cried out, his hand shooting out to grab Milae's wrist, slowly leaning further out as he tried to keep him within reach. He glanced wildly between demon and half breed. The bookkeeper was no longer surprised by Milae's tendency to egg him on by putting himself in danger--it didn't mean he was getting used to it, if anything it merely pushed him towards more panic, "Get out of there!"
"Come on, Jari, let them test it," Akkey attempted a comforting grin, never breaking her gaze towards the events unfolding above, "Nala wasn't exactly having an easy time doing that by herself, right?"
Regrets and Revival (Pt. 5)
Part 4
His eyes shifted minutely as he gazed at the half breed, focusing and refocusing his sight, even when Milae turned his own away. His thumbs slid across fur covered hands, a subconscious mimicry of the goat’s own comforting gesture to him earlier on in a personal attempt to console him, tugging at his wrists to keep him near.
His nod was slow, still not entirely certain but feeling closer to something more tangible, “I got away, and he suffered in my place instead. I could’ve help--” Juro blinked as he realized what he was saying as a Bookkeeper, “I should’ve helped him.”
His hands twitched involuntarily, “But I didn’t, and now he’s gone, and Chuugo’s gone, and I don’t have to worry about either of them, and I... I feel like I should be relieved--” the word clicked into place, “--I am. I am relieved, but I’m not... happy about it.”
This is Yours (Pt. 4)
Part 3
"What-!" his first reaction was disbelief, but it was quickly overshadowed by playfulness and now a determination; there was no way in Aidorin or Hanzien or whatever other undiscovered continent would Juro miss an opportunity to write.
There was a clumsy hesitation at first as the Bookkeeper's confidence in his abilities faltered sporadically, but as they sped across the miles and miles of disturbed ground, getting further away from Fenrir's Jaw, he slowly found his rhythm and closed the distance with the half breed, being more aware of the airy boost his magic gave him. It was a light footed leap over a particularly steep incline a third of the way that landed him beside Milae.
It seemed like Juro would've burst past the the goat in that moment, but instead an arm shot out and scooped him under his sleeves, lifting them both off their feet with a gale from behind. Bookkeeper and seidkonur streaked through the air in a flurry of blue, green, white, and gold, sleeves flapping in the wind as they were brought the rest of the way. With a glance up at the blonde, Milae saw his blue and amber eyes forward, sparkling at the thought of a completely new story, unheard of anywhere else in the Library, smiling wide and breathless, staring at the large web of cracks and quakes of illuminated earth.
Juro's feet touched ground first, then Milae's hooves, as their boost dispersed in what looked like a burst of wings and light, leaving them crouched on the ground with the teal glow from beneath. He stayed down, keeping the half breed close, then began to shake, quietly at first, bringing a gloved hand over his mouth, but it wasn't long before the blonde burst into a fit of giddy, uncontrolled, low laughter, despite his attempts to look away and keep it at bay.
