I need to vent a little about how much I struggled to keep real fencing/sword fighting terminology out of The Hunter Stalks Her Prey. I mean, I've only ever trained long sword, and not needle or spear, and a lot of the stuff Hornet can do has no real world equivalent, so there was really only two terms that I wanted to use, but they came up a lot.

Now, there's a decent chance that the average reader could have figured out what "doubling" and "off line/stepping off line" meant from both the words themselves and context, but I wanted to paint as clear a picture as possible, so I kept having to change stuff like "the creature was unafraid of doubling" to "the creature did not seem to care if it got hit" and "the creature did not bother with defense". And changing "they stepped off line to dodge" to "they dodged to the side", and "she moved off line" to "she circled around".

When I tell you it was a struggle to make these changes/write this way in the first place. I mean it was a struggle. I wouldn't be surprised if there's one or two instances of these terms still in the fic.

God, I can only imagine how much worse it would have been if they'd been using actual swords and I had to fight to avoid using the names of guards and cuts and describing the bind. And so on.

god there's like five different gpose ideas i wanted to get out by this past saturday at the latest but the executive dysfunction and other obligations kept kicking my ass and i have had zero energy to do the things i've been wanting to do in ffxiv and that's contributing to the executive dysfunction which affects other things and it's a vicious cycle and it's dumb and i hate it :(

I switched to firefox.

Chrome was breaking left and right on me, I couldn’t get anything to work, and in order to use more than one tumblr account at once, I had to use incognito. To be honest, I hated it. I already miss Chrome, but until stuff is proven to be working again, I’m probably going to stick with Firefox for the time being.

This doesn’t change a whole lot really, but I’m definitely unhappy that everything broke at once when the stupid tumblr update rolled out. Or at least, Chrome broke everything.

At least that’s how I feel.

Anyway. Firefox is decent. I had issue with it years ago, so I’m hoping it’s a lot smoother nowadays, works better, and doesn’t crash my computer this time.
