we know that jay is from the southside and that’s supposed to be a wicked irish area, so imagine a family friend/relative dropping on off for jay at the 21st and he introduces the rest of the unit to the concept, and then they spend the day all taking tiny slivers to try and find the ring first
but of course adam has the memory of a goldfish, and either by forgetfulness or absentmindedness, he walks into the break room and just goes, ooh, ✨cake ✨ , and proceeded to scoff down the last of it and with, the ring too
god i’m sorry for this, i just cannot stop thinking abt it 💀

We know the Halsteads are Irish Catholic, and with their cousin Moira being mentioned it's like, close to Ireland Irish, so this is completely something I can see happening.
Jay telling the story of what the ring means, and everyone just like looking at the two couples? Awkwardness ensuing and people trying to take tiny slivers. Or he does what my mother does and cuts it into slices and makes people take a slice at a time (I think we spent too long searching for the ring).
But just the forgetfulness, and Adam just coughing it back up and accusing Jay of trying to kill him? The awkwardness of "oh god Adam's gonna be even more lovesick"? The fun?
Honestly I semi wanna write this now because it'd be hilarious, but NO CÍARA TOO MUCH TO WRITE. But I ADORE it.
