@militechnical sent: “I’m holding out for something more.” (jackie)
It didn't take much after Jackie found out about her living situation that she moved in. In fact, over the few months, she had grown to know Jackie, to care for Jackie, she found things easy. V found being with him easy, and that was such a rarity in her life. Heart and soul under lock and key for as long as she could remember. But with him, it simply unlocked and shone, her being, herself, her light. There was just something about him that brought it out of her, that brought out the best of her. But, good things like that were always easy to mix up for something more. And for a moment, she lost herself in the thoughts of what they were who they were.
The conversation at hand falling to the side, she forgets only for a moment until his last sentence. Lifting her beer to her lips, taking a long sip to mask how lost in thought she had been. Her brows furrowing the smallest, a small gentle crease between her brows, the right just a twinge higher than the right as she looked at him. ❝ What kinda somethin' Jack? Ain't a lotta somethin' past what were doin' fo' people like us. ❞ The words are half-empty, hollow even because she wants more too. More than holding a gun at people and getting drunk, living as a legend was not always a dream not until she met him, and it was not what she wanted in her heart of hearts.
Family, that was what V wanted. Cliche, she knows. In fact, she would even call it stupid, but that lacking touch of warmth from her own childhood and life, it made her want it so bad some days it hurt. It hurt in her stomach and chest as if it were going to burst from between her ribs and kill her. But to share that, to tell him that it may be too much. But she can open the door. She can always open the door for him and see where it takes them. ❝ Ya know, somethin'? I don' think it's terrible t' want somethin' outside o' all this. ❞
