                           she was panicked, FRANTIC even, but trying to calm down just simply wasn't an option for her anymore, not when bucky was evidently hurt after their mission not exactly going to plan. seeing him in pain completely tore her apart, especially when she felt like perhaps she could have prevented it, maybe if she had been in the right place at the right time, she could have stopped this from happening -- but she couldn't go back now, all she could do was make sure that he was OKAY. ❛----james...are you okay? i-i'm so sorry i let this happen to you, i should've been there to h-help. just tell me that you're okay...p-please.❜

tony done everything in his power to try and stop bucky from taking the arc reactor since he knew that as soon as it was gone? he'd start to falter slowly into death, the shrapnel within his body would reach his heart and he would be killed as soon as that happened -- he couldn't let that be- come a reality, he needed to continue punching his way out of it and he needed to get bucky off him.
