It had been a late...late...LATE night for Dr. Leonard McCoy at the hospital. A few allergic reactions, some drunks, but mostly burns from fires. Those were the worst. Some of the burns left permanant damage on the victim's skin. It horrified Leonard everytime someone came in with a burn and he couldn't fix the damage.
He was on his way home when he got a call from Pavel. Immidiatley, he picked up the phone and took the call.
"Pasha? What's wrong?" He asked. He always asked that whenever he spoke to Pavel over the phone.
A light, melodious laugh came from the other side. "Leo! You should not vorry about me everytime I call."
"Well I can't help it when I work at a place where I see everything and anything that could happen to you dear!" Leonard responded, huffing loudly over the phone.
"Ugh, Leo, please. It's been a long day, don't fight vith me about zis. You know how safe I am." Pavel sighed over the phone.
"I know I know. Why'd you call then?" Leonard asked, turning the corner.
"I have a surprise waiting for you when you come home." Pavel's voice sounded sultry and mischevious all at the same time. Leonard rolled his eyes and smiled to himself.
"Alright. I'm coming home." He grinned. What did Pavel have for him this time. It was always something different everytime. A Russian winterland....a Georgia ranch...it differed widely.
"Okay! See you soon. I love you Leo!" Pavel squeaked before hanging up. Leonard smiled and put his phone down, driving down the street and taking a few more turns before pulling into the drive of his boyfriend's house. He parked and got out, hurrying through the door.
"Pasha! I'm home!" He called out, taking his jacket off and setting his keys down.
"Come upstairs!" Pavel called from up the stairs. Leonard shook his head and walked up the stairs, wondering what it was this time. Though as he walked closer and closer to the room, he could smell the distinct scent of peaches wafted to his nose. Alright what was Pave doing this time.
"Pasha darling, why do I smell--" He started when he opened the door, but stopped when he saw that the room was littered with orange and red candles, brightly lit. They were scattered over the ground and windows, near the bed in which Pavel was excitedly laying in, eyes wide. "Pavel! No!" He shook his head, blowing out all the candles he could, rushing around the room. "No no no! Pavel, what were you thinking?!" He asked, looking up at the confused boy.
"Vhat vas I thinking? Vhat are you doing?!" He cried.
"These are candles! Do you want yourself to be caught on fire and burn? Hm? Burn down the whole house and die in the fire, leaving me here alone?" He asked, blowing out the last of the candles, leaving the two in darkness.
"Leonard, I did zese because I thought you would enjoy it." He sighed, putting his head in his hands.
Leonard could hear the self disapointment in his voice and quickly felt guilty for yelling at him. "Pavel...I'm just saying that these candles...I've had a bad day at work. So many people die or are left in pain when they are caught on fire." He sighed, crawling blindly into bed, looking for Pavel, finding him and wrapping his arms around him. "I'm sorry darlin'" He murmured.
"No no. I understand. I just wanted your stressful day to melt avay. But I see zat all it takes is just..." He shrugged, at a loss for words and tired. He spent three hours waiting for Leonard.
"Just you being here. Okay? No candles, nothing. Just you." Leonard smiled, kissing the boy's curly hair.
