Question of the day..... What milk or milk alternative is best??? My first question is why are you drinking milk? Are you wanting the extra protein? Do you crave the taste? Depending on what your reason to have the milk helps answer which milk you should have. There has been a huge switch to Almond and Coconut milks lately as they are a lower calorie and carbohydrate choice - which is great, but they are lower calories because they have almost no protein in them. Protein is important as it helps muscle building, feeling of fullness (satiety) and maintain overall health. I find it odd when people are making a "protein shake" and adding in protein powder but then use almond milk, when in reality you could be using regular 1% milk, decreasing the amount of protein powder (which can be very expensive) and getting the extra protein from the cow's milk. For people that don't tolerate lactose (myself being one of them) choosing a lactose free milk is a great option as well! There is definitely a need for the different milk choices that are present but take a look to see what macro nutrients (carbohydrates, fat, protein) you need in your day to help make the best choice for you! #proteinchoices #milkchoices #whatworksforyou (at City of Lloydminster)
