Hi, I just noticed you mentioned vipa to be able to watch hard nights. Thank you so much for finding and pointing us to this website, I always try to watch a show legally if possible. I however also noticed you had a link to a mkv file up, how did you acquire this mkv file? I always wonder how people are able to get mkv files with embedded subs, are you willing to share this knowledge with me? If not that's completely fine, I hope you have a nice day.
Hiiiiiiii 👋
No worries. I'm always happy to share. So for Thai PBS shows very specifically, I would get my video source from the Thai PBS website (which thankfully isn't geoblocked). I have this software calls Internet Download Manager which I glaze all the time about that gives me this little 'Download this video' pop up box.
I then have the option to download the video file in TS format (usually I just pick the first file or the one that says 1080P and pray for the best).
After I have that downloaded, I use Avidemux to losslessly convert my TS file into MKV.
As for the soft sub file, I used this method of subtitle extraction which I've posted about before. But for some reason, VIPA website is geo-locked again & the subtitle file is configured differently last time I checked while my VPN is failing to connect, so I've yet been able to do the same for the rest of the episodes of Hard Night. You can also read more in my linked tutorial above on how I convert that VTT soft subtitle file into SRT subtitle file using Subtitle Edit.
After I have gotten my MKV file and the SRT file, I'd open MKVToolNix, drag and drop in my MKV first.
And then I drag my SRT file in -> choose the first/default option -> OK.
And then I hit 'Start multiplexing' and let MKVToolNix do its magic.
The end result for me would be an MKV file with soft English subtitle embedded.
I hope this somewhat answers your question 😭 As for the Hard Night uploads, I have been unable to continue with the Hard Nights upload project because I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the soft subs in one piece without the vtt files being divided up into small parts after they updated and geoblocked the VIPA website.
But happy to answer any other questions you might have about this.
