So the Dan Wootton thing aired, and was a prerecorded segment from during promo thank goodness, and contained no surprises whatsoever. You would think they would have just recorded it at the same time as the podcast but some pointed out that a couple things in it might be in response to reaction to that, like Wootton pointedly saying that Freddie is three which he got wrong in the podcast and Louis saying that he Mutually Respects all the 1D boys (o rilllly my goodness), so who knows. Anyway the stuff he says about the kid is all the exact same things, down to the phrasing, as in the podcast so if you want my take just go read the March 8 update again honestly. The only new stuff was him talking about the TOU video, exactly as anticipated- he says he played piano in the video because Jay always wanted him to play. And then boom, another prerecorded interview also aired today, on an Australian station, so I guess the floodgates are open now! The content was... familiar. If you don't believe that he's been saying the same two phrases about that kid since day one just overlay the audio from any two interviews, I bet it would sync up seamlessly, stereo Louis saying "I'm starting to see signs of his personality" and "he's got a little mischievous streak." Anyway in that interview he also says that he heard from all the 1D boys about the song, that's nice, and asked if he's ever gotten mad at fans for not knowing lyrics he gracefully refrains from being like "lmao that's reallllly not an issue with my fans." So how about that video release, maybe tomorrow with that MTV special huh? WELLLL ACTUALLY that has been taken off the schedule AGAIN so I don't know WHAT is going on there but uh maybe not tomorrow. It lends some credence to the "behind the scenes between the teams tussling" speculation I guess (which is getting a lot of traction), it's weird as hell. We'll see. Other thing of note: we learned that a song Louis is credited on (Changes) will be released Apr 26; it's on the singer blackbear's album. It was perhaps one of the songs that came out of the Secret Genius writing group.
Also prerecorded, Liam's interview yesterday. No gonna lie I, like Liam in that interview, have been phoning it in a bit the last few days and I apparently forgot time zones exist briefly... Anyway Liam's Capital FM interview yesterday was definitely not live and seems to have been recorded at least a week ago so it's not surprising that he didn't elaborate on his posts of just a few days ago about being in studio but apparently he did speak about music briefly, though it was cut from the video the station posted, he said basically nothing. It's not done, who knows when I'll release an album, not me. He did tweet a cryptic tease today, posting a video of himself and Lennon Stella performing with the byline "see you in the desert." Coachella? Maybe so. Other people are teasing Liam related things as well- in their workout video ol Marky Mark says, "this guy is training for something in particular, look out for him" and a Brazilian site tells us that he will be playing at a festival there, which given that that particular news outlet also said 1D would play there in 2016 should be taken with a grain of salt but unlike that it seems plausible. Less interesting was The Guardian's completely pointless and truly vicious couple of thousand words dedicated to trashing Liam in every possible way for no apparent reason. No thank you! Ignore that and just appreciate today's sultry selfie instead.
Meanwhile Niall is enjoying his golf Christmas to the fullest with his phone off, which he has cited as a favorite part of any golf event, but there was an interview this morning; he bemoans not ever being able to get away from being reminded of his famous caddying fall, but then says that if you see it in slo-mo it's actually very graceful which if that isn't an invitation to watch it again I don't know what is.
And today in Harry history (Har-story?) it's one year since he played the O2 looking like Prince Charming, true, but more importantly it's two years since he forgot which twitter he was logged into gifted us with the infamous Louis milkshake tweet. A blessed event, truly.
