The waves were coming straight into the local cove/beach, at high tide. Love the sounds of the rocks.
For 42 consecutive years the province of Nova Scotia has sent the city of Boston, Massachusetts a Christmas tree to thank them for the help they sent after the devastating Halifax Explosion on December 6, 1917. This year's tree was donated by Mary Lou Milligan of Mill Cove, Nova Scotia and will arrive in Boston today. (Image via Twitter)

Up they go!
Mill Cove is one of my favorite places to stroll on a sunny day. The effects of Hurricane Sandy are evident!

It's amazing how we can hold so much attachment to a geograhpical area. This is Mill Cove in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. It lays about half way between my childhood home and downtown. As a kid I walked and later rode my bike hundreds of times on this route and often stopped here on my way to or from town to climb on the rocks, mess around in the large culvert that runs under the road or check to see if the smelt were running in the creek that drained down into the sea. I've seen it completely iced over in the winter and teeming with fish in the summer. I watched the hulking wrecks of two schooners sit motionless in the mud year after year, slowly deteriorating. Countless bus rides and car rides had me looking out the window to the Atlantic where this view from Mill Cove has not changed in my forty years.
