This is our official Christmas tree. It is donated by the very kind people of Nova Scotia in thanks for the aid Greater Boston sent in the aftermath the Halifax explosion of 1917. It may be the truest example of the Christmas spirit I know of. I'm the 2014 Tree for Boston! And I'm very excited to represent Nova Scotia at the annual tree lighting event in Boston. I'll be gathering the spirt of the Province at a Tree for Boston sendoff on November 18th between 11:30am and 12:30pm. Please join me, the RCMP, Halifax Fire, DNR enforcement Officer, Halifax Police, The Stanfields and much more!

We'll have hot apple cider and a barbecue to keep you warm, plus you'll get a chance to sign the book of thanks for the people of Boston. The event will be hosted by CTV Atlantic News's Cindy Day.

For 42 consecutive years the province of Nova Scotia has sent the city of Boston, Massachusetts a Christmas tree to thank them for the help they sent after the devastating Halifax Explosion on December 6, 1917. This year's tree was donated by Mary Lou Milligan of Mill Cove, Nova Scotia and will arrive in Boston today. (Image via Twitter)
