thinking a lot abt the concept of militancy, which on the surface level i had a gut negative reaction to because of the connection to the Military. but looking at the word and what it means, i move past that first reaction and i feel like it's something im missing, something a lot of the activism and "organizing" i see around me is missing. being "aggressively active" in support of the causes i believe in is something i want to be. i feel like it's easy to acquiesce to concepts like not having capacity, not having the energy or time to do things. but especially when it comes to COVID transmission where individual actions are CRUCIAL and necessary for community safety, militancy is necessary. thinking an action is "probably fine" is not something i can accept anymore, I've got to do my absolute due diligence to make sure my choices are safe and the best possible choices i can be making. for me this also applies to stopping genocide in gaza, when it comes to things like rallies, protests and strikes, doing only what's easy and what i have "capacity" for isn't enough. i don't want to hide behind words like that to excuse myself from taking more aggressive action. id like to be more militant.
