Again for the BLM crowd, does this woman matter? Or is the mistreatment of a Black woman acceptable as long as she's an African Christian and her tormentors are Muslim?
Blasphemy is punishable by death in northern Nigeria
As part of a model to placate the northern states, despite freedom of religion supposedly being guaranteed by the nation's constitution, blasphemy in twelve of Nigeria's states is legally a capital crime, with punishments going up to and including execution. Said states also have the death penalty in place for certain, arbitrarily defined "versions" of the "crime" of being gay or being determined to have had gay sex. "Aggravated homosexuality", they call it. I have nothing but derision for President Peacemaker's decision to start threatening new wars at the drop of a hat(clearly Iran wasn't enough), but when you see the media trying to lie and minimize the oppression and murder committed either directly by Nigeria's northern states or by vigilante mobs who somehow never get prosecuted or investigated at all, remember what they're covering up for the sole purpose of scoring points against Orange Man.
In fact, let's start with an example. Here's Reuters invoking the black-on-black crime argument to try and counter Trump's claims, saying that akshually most of the victims of the murderous jihadis Nigeria can't save its own people from are Muslims. Congratulations Reuters, you've successfully owned the conservacucks by proving that Nigeria is every bit as incapable of protecting its own citizens as Trump said it was, only it's mostly Muslim citizens it can't protect in this specific instance involving jihadi terrorists so he's wrong about everything. No Christians being persecuted with the full legal backing of the Nigerian state, no siree.
Why does Trump not give a flying fuck that beyond Christians, there are also Muslims that have been killed by these extremists like Boko Haram? There is no care for those different to his own, and that is a major flaw of and part of the larger moral stain of Donald J. Trump.
Defiant Protest and Growing Outcry as Christians Face Mounting Violence in Nigeria and Sudan
Edo State, Nigeria & Al Jazirah, Sudan – Protesters in Nigeria’s Middle Belt are rallying in defiance of escalating violence against Christians, while in Sudan, hidden worship services underscore a broader crisis of religious persecution. In Edo State, thousands took to the streets at Jattu junction in Auchi, as demonstrators chanted, “We are not afraid. We are not going to walk away from our…
The resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria's northeast is raising fears about a risk of returning to the peak Boko Haram-era insecurity
Various armed groups have kidnapped hundreds of people, including 287 schoolchildren, across northern Nigeria in a series of alarming attacks since late February. The kidnappings are the latest indication of Nigeria’s spiraling security crisis, as communities continue to face severe threats from Islamist insurgents like Boko Haram in the country’s northeast and other criminal groups in the northwest.
On February 29, suspected Boko Haram insurgents abducted over 200 internally displaced people, many of them children, in the Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
Then, on March 7, criminal gangs known as “bandits” kidnapped 287 students, including many girls, at the government secondary school in Kuriga town, in northwestern Kaduna State. Two days later, bandits broke into a boarding school in Gidan Bakuso village in Sokoto State and kidnapped 15 children as they slept.
The abductions have continued. Most recently, on March 18, over 87 people were reported to have been kidnapped in Kajuru community in Kaduna State. (Human Rights Watch)
