I almost forgot to do my weekly writing update!! no fear I am here

current project: The Starbird Rescue Alliance (sci-fi) hours spent writing: 14 hours word count: 13,328 page count: 42

I finally named my WIP!! Today I was heading to work and followed a different route, then looked up from my phone at the perfect time. I passed an apartment complex called The Starbird and I thought that was such a fitting name for the book. The whole way to work, I thought up new lore to explain the title and came up with some really interesting stuff. I feel so creative today after that and really inspired to use my surroundings when writing.

In other news, I am really trying to reach 50 pages before the end of Act 1. Though I have 42 physical pages, I'm going off a 350 words per page calculation which puts me at 38. I don't really know for sure if I can hold the reader were they're at now for 12 more pages before the end of the act, so I may have to accept that I'm nearing that moment and let it end naturally so I can put more detail into the exposition when I edit.

Also, I took a moment to consider novel length. For a while I was aiming for about 75,000 words, but after doing some research, I don't know if I can accomplish what I set out for in that amount. So I'm changing my goal to be 110,000 words. That only makes the whole "dragging out the exposition" bit harder, but I'm alright with that. I have A LOT to explore in Act 2 including spaceship mechanics, character dynamics, new problems, past trauma, romantic relationships, the environment, natural disasters, etc. Hopefully I can flesh out some more of Chapter 4 today, get to that defining moment, and then plan out Act 2 tomorrow and Friday so that on Saturday I can just go to town. Definitely need to start writing a lot more if I want to finish this book soon. My goal is going to be to finish my first draft by the end of my Thanksgiving vacation on December 4th, because my book is highly inspired by the birth of my niece and I'll be meeting her for the first time during the holiday! Alright back to writing byeeee

Totally random rant: In an arms length away fantasy I want to befriend a bunch of nepo babies and rich kids and actually turn them into productive valuable people. Like people who actually do something for the world and don’t just squander their privilege by becoming a model or an instagramer. All this wealth and opportunity you should be out eat doing the coolest things and being a positive influence. I want to be the influencer of the world leaders children.
