Hnnnnnng I needs to make more stuff before I really feel like it's a good idea to send in I think last year we made $40 total and it all went in the tank to come home. We have until July 31st to send it in and until September to make stuff. I can crank out the paintings, ear cuffs, dragons, and embroidered pillow things until then.
So far the cost looks like this:
Booth (10'X15')= $90.00
-Rental=$50.00
Canvas for covering (3 yards [need to cover the back too])= $Less than the booth. Maybe $5/yard?
The rentals are supposed to include a cover, but for some reason ours didn't and we were really scrambling when it came to it; I had to sew together the extra fabric I'd brought for table covers and we tacked my car blankets to the frame.
-Waterproofing spray (If it's anything like last year, we'll need it)=$20/can
Gas=$40 both ways plus any side stops...depending on the car. Tranny went out on the Taurus at it got 25 MPG and no way mom would let us take the Saturn. If dad lets us use the truck (12 MPG), it would be $160 round just for gas. My car gets 23 MPG when it isn't loaded with stuff..........which it would be. Tables, gear and clothes changes, wares, any food and drink we take, sleeping gear...ew.
At and during faire:
Food= Like....$12 for a small but well portioned plate of stir fry at faire, $5 at MD's, maybe $15 for sammy stuff we can take along. I'mma let y'all figure that out.
Sleeping arrangements= Motel 6 is $68/night? Auntie's is bed, breakfast, and tea for free and about 20 miles away, camping at the booth is free (no tent needed?) and I think they have an easy faire meal in the morning.
Grand total of $365?...not counting costs of buying materials to make the wares, food, and assuming we have the truck and stay somewhere free.....
I could buy a ton and a half of of hay with that. :I
If we all pitch in where we can, we should be okay though. No splitting, no tallying or keeping track, just helping out. Once I get my three ton I won't be worrying about most of the cost for things. Toad will get that much when he sells as well.
Uhg. Someone needs to get into carpentry so we can set up our own booth and lose that cost. They're fairly simple (Ha. pun). We have a lot of A-frames here that are about 5' tall and poles that vary in length below 6', but I'm the only one who would be able to fit comfortably and we would definitely need the truck to haul those over. There are instructions to building one similar to the rental in the Faire Guidebooke, which is best read.
But we have until July 31st to figure things out so no biggie, right? It'll be fun! :D
