Nom nom nom
Downtown Dumplings & other things starting with D

MIMI CHENG's DUMPLINGS. this happens everyday as a new yorker--you take the same street when you are cutting through different neighborhoods. and it never fails....there will be a restaurant or bar or store that catches your eye. but you never have time to go in. well, on a sunset lit friday night i hit a couple of these places--one of them being mimi cheng's dumplings. mimi cheng's takes authentic taiwanese-chinese recipes and hits them with a little east village magic, coupled with local organic ingredients. there are special dumplings on a regular basis, but nothing beats a pork dumpling; in this case, their reinvented classic.
