April 2020 TBR
So for this month I really want to read as many books as I can since this year has started off pretty sad with the amount I have been reading. It is also OWLs this month, so a good portion of this TBR will be for those. I have decided to try to complete the OWLs for the Librarian career, which requires five reads, but I would like to complete as many prompts as I can anyways. I probably won’t finish this TBR list at all, but I like to dream big.
Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody
This book is for the OWL of Ancient Runes which has the prompt to read a book with a heart in the title or on the cover. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while, ever since Emma on emmmabooks was raving about it two years ago I think. The second book is out now and the whole story sounds very interesting and something I would like, I just hope with my little reading slump I’m in, it doesn't affect my enjoyment.
Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
This book is for the OWL of Arithmancy which says to read a book outside of my favourite genre, which is fantasy and YA, so this checks off both of those boxes in differences, since this is an adult historical fiction novel. But if I’m being honest I am very sure that I will love this book because I’ve been reading more and more adult books recently and loving all of them. I also loved Taylor’s other book Daisy Jones and The Six, so I would not be surprised if this one is just as good or even better.
These Rebel Waves by Sara Raasch
This one is for Defense Against the Dark Arts which has the prompt of reading a book that is set at the sea or coast, or by a body of water essentially. Like Ace of Shades, I’ve had this one for a while and I hope that it doesn’t take me further into my reading slump and actually helps get me out of it, but we’ll see. I’m very intrigued by the plot and the cover so I have high hopes, but lately fantasy books just aren’t doing it for me, especially the first in a series.
Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater
This one is for History of Magic which says to read a book that contains witches or wizards in it. I might be cheating a little with this one, because technically this book is about dreamers, but that is a type of magic and in the first series that proceeds this one, The Raven Cycle, Blue and her family were witches. Weren’t they? I don’t know but whatever, I’m reading this book and I’m excited for it.
The Girl King by Mimi Yu
This book is for Transfiguration which says to read a book about shapeshifters, and I was very lucky that this book talks about shapeshifters on the flap, or else I would have been screwed. I don’t know much else about this book, besides loving the cover and hearing good things about it. Also I know it has something to do with sisters trying to win their rightful places on the throne which I love in a story, so we’ll see how it goes.
Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan
Okay, for this book I don’t really have a prompt and just want to read it because I need to finish this series. With the books I already have listed, I finish all the prompts for the Librarian career track, but I could say that this one is for Astronomy, Divination, or Muggle Studies. I might even read this one first because I really want to finish this series because it’s just so good!
And that’s the end of my April TBR! We’ll see if I actually finish it, or just screw it up like I usually do, but this is all just for fun anyways.
Until next time!

two of the books I boughth in January ✨
The first in a (hopefully) long line of unappreciated quotes.
The crowd along Kangmun Boulevard had grown since Nok had run his errands; it moved like thick mud. Someone swore loudly at him to get out of the way. Nok jumped aside. An elderly woman hobbled by, pulling a wagon laden with knives that gleamed fiercely in the afternoon sun.“Come on!” Ad
2019 books: The Girl King
The Girl King by Mimi Yu. Bloosmbury YA, 2019, 481 pages.
When an emperor names his male nephew heir instead of his firstborn daughter, the country threatens to plunge into a civil war. Lu, the daughter, is determined to claim her birthright but stumbles onto dark secrets upon which her father's empire was built. Min, her younger sister, is seen only as a pawn in her cousin's rule, but she gradually discovers a power that could bring her out of Lu's shadow. The Girl King is the first book in a planned series and is full of intrigue, magic, and action to satisfy any fan of high fantasy.
