I am thinking two things as to why the artifact end up on Rivendell's mountain. It might be the last place Lizzie was able to go to before she lost her memories. Or Rivendell could be more sinister than it appears. Remember what Pixlriffs said about old powers coming back? They could have a hand in that. Whether intentionally or not.

regarding the first theory: i can see your reasoning, according to Pixlriff's map of the empires, Rivendell is one of the farthest empires from the Ocean Empire as it's at the Southernmost end while the ocean is in the North, but it wouldn't make sense for Lizzie to be the one to hide away the item that would restore her own memories in a place where she can't access it easily, so i doubt she was the one to put it there

i personally feel like the artifact was hidden there for sinister reasons, i'm just not sure who exactly to pin those reasons on. yes, the artifact was hidden in Rivendell, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are the ones who placed it there. it's entirely possible that they are innocent and being used as a scapegoat for someone else who wants to harm the Ocean Empire or start a rift between those empires, but we can’t say for sure!

the Ocean Empire would be right to be suspicious of Rivendell for having the ocean orb, but i don't think we know enough about the situation to seriously accuse them of anything at the moment

Lizzie believes that the artifact drawn by the enderlotl is the key to summoning the Blue Axolotl heir of the Ocean Empire, and she has tried, but failed, to find it in the Ocean Empire. However, Scott found this very artifact hidden deep in the mountains of Rivendell surrounded by precious ores and treasures, miles away from the ocean where a citizen of the Ocean Empire could find it.

so whoever placed it there clearly wanted to keep it away from the Ocean Empire, but why? is this an act of revenge from an old enemy of the Ocean Empire or is there another reason the Blue Axolotl is being kept away from their rightful throne? is the Blue Axolotl a victim who is being unjustly imprisoned or are they a criminal who is being confined for the greater good? and why was the artifact hidden in Rivendell of all places instead of any other empire? is this an attack or sabotage by the Elven empire? is this a hint that the past relationship between the Elven and Ocean empires wasn’t exactly peaceful or amicable?

the first thing i noticed about the underground room in Fundy's dream was how the stairway was made of full quartz blocks instead of half-slabs or stairs, and that detail reminded me of how Eret carefully designed the stairway of the Final Control Room to be full blocks as well so that it would be difficult for the 5th battalion to escape from the way they came

i wonder if it's Fundy's mind drawing parallels to that experience and telling him that he can't trust whatever's in that chamber

i find it interesting that Wilbur was in the camarvan in Fundy's dreamscape, but not Schlatt, considering both were authority figures Fundy respected and seeked approval from, and both were people he's hurt and betrayed and have done so back to him. as far as we know, Schlatt was never in that desert, only Wilbur.

is this Fundy still having hope for and wanting to mend his relationship Wilbur, but not Schlatt? is his relationship with Wilbur the one Fundy feels more guilty about? or is it the one Fundy feels more bitter about?

(okay tbf, i don't think Fundy canonically knows about Glatt, so that might contribute to why he doesn't feel as strongly about him atm)

somehow, Fundy is both aware and in denial of his relationships in the Dream SMP. He pretends that when he wakes up everything will be fine and he'll get to hang out with his friends again, but that isn't the case. He refuses to say it outright, but he knows that he's lying to himself. He knows that he's alone, that nobody has truly cared about him for a long time now, but he's still holding onto that sliver of hope (denial) that someone still does. As long as it keeps him from completely spiraling, he'll hold onto that.

But if someone truly did care for him, then he wouldn't be talking to himself in his dreams. Fundy talks to himself because he only has himself, because time has proven again and again that he can only really trust in and rely on himself.
