HAPPY VALENTINES DAY LOVLIES 💖💖💖

I wanted to make something for valentines day for all of my friends becuase i love them all so much, so im presenting: my valentines card carrd!! (Inspired by @/heitkrbk, though its carrd is more something anyone can send to someone than something for specific people, i recommend you go check it out!!!)

I tried to include all my friends in this but i limited myself to ten people so im sorry if i forgot you !!! :(

Priyanka has known of the flower disease her whole life - of course she does, it’s the most common cause of death nowadays, and many of her family and friends had it at some point in their lives. Thankfully, she never lost anyone to it. She’s part of the lucky ones.

So when she starts to cough up flowers some days after settling in her college dorm and introducing herself to her roommate, it shocks her to her core. Tynomi is pretty, mostly easy going and a little quiet. She’s a good roommate, but it seems that her heart has decided she won’t be just a roommate.

It’s annoying, especially considering she has classes, labs and things to do. It makes her cheeks flush in embarrassment and frustration to take over her when, out of the blue, pink petals slip out of her mouth in between blood and spit. She tells everyone that she’s sick, that she gets coughs very often because she’s a long time smoker (she’s not) and her lungs are all covered in smoke. 

She manages to keep it from Tynomi, and she has no idea how. The hydrangeas in her lungs grow with each day, stronger, tighter, gripping her heart and reminding her each and every day that there’s a reason they’re inside her - that she’s falling slowly, gradually and inevitably with Tynomi, but Tynomi isn’t.

It stings. It really does.

Priyanka grows more and more annoyed at her friends who have partners. While she used to not mind at all the absolutely disgusting PDA from Lena and Julia, and would just roll her eyes when Kyne and Kiara got handsy, telling them to get a room before going on with the conversation. But now, she can’t even stand when they get in lovey-dovey mode while she chokes in unsaid feelings and pink hydrangeas.

It’s Kyne that pulls her aside one night while they’re at the bar, asking her to come keep her company outside while she smokes. Before Priyanka can ask if she doesn’t prefer Kiara to keep her company, Kyne tugs her outside, almost forcefully, and when after a few moments there are no cigarettes or lighters in sight, Priyanka knows something’s up.

“You’ve been acting weird,” she says, going straight to the point. Priyanka’s hands start to sweat.

There’s a back and forth of no i haven’t, yes you’ve had for a couple moments, until Priyanka feels a petal tickling at the back of her throat.

Fuck it. Telling Kyne might actually be helpful; she knows for a fact Kyne had the flower disease before she dated Kiara. There could be a way out for Priyanka that didn’t involve surgery to remove the flowers.

So she tells her everything. How Tynomi smells like the pink hydrangeas that her Naniji used to cultivate in her garden, how her laughs is like music to her ears, how when she hugs her and wraps her arms tight around her, she can feel the hydrangeas squeezing her lungs and heart, a grim reminder that her feelings aren’t reciprocated.

Kyne just listens, giving her hands one, two, three squeezes every time Priyanka looks like she’s on the verge of tears and gasping for air. 

“How did you do it?” Priyanka asks, Kyne furrows her brow, tilting her head a little. “How did you get Kiara to like you back?”

A goofy smile creeps on Kyne’s face, full of love for her girlfriend. Priyanka is just the tiniest bit jealous.

“Well, you know I’ve always been upfront about things. And when things weren’t looking good for me, I just decided to tell her about my feelings. We worked it out together, and look at us now!” Kyne’s gives her hands another squeeze before continuing, and Priyanka knows what comes next, but she doesn’t want to hear it - or rather, doesn’t want to accept it. “You just have to be honest with her, yeah? It’s still early, you can make it work.”

Priyanka nods weakly, promising she’ll do so. They go back to the bar, where a very tipsy Kiara latches onto Kyne almost right away, leaving her lipstick along her jawline.

Kyne’s words replay in her head throughout the night. She tells herself she’ll do this, that she’s capable of telling Tynomi her feelings. Or so she hopes.

Priyanka stumbles into her dorm just a little drunk, fumbling with the keys. She unlocks the door, but before she can push it open she hears a frantic cough coming from the inside. She freezes, wondering if she should open the door and face the situation. 

A petal tickles the back of her throat, so she decides that fuck it, it’s now or never. 

She’s met with the sight of Tynomi in her pyjamas kneeling next to the trash can, staring at the wall. Priyanka sees blood and spit mixed in her chin, and takes a heavy breath as she kneels next to her.

“Ty? Are you okay, honey?” She asks softly, placing a hand on her shoulder. Tynomi blinks repeatedly, shuddering a little.

“I thought it’d never happen to me,” she says vaguely, barely holding back tears. Priyanka steals a quick glance at the trash can. Blue tulips.

“You wanna talk about it?”

Tynomi shakes her head no. “I rather not speak about him.”

Priyanka feels the pink hydrangeas tug with such tight grip that she feels breathless, and she’s not sure this is how biology works, but she’s pretty sure that the only reason her heart hasn’t shattered in a million pieces is because the hydrangeas are holding it together.
