I took mum to Sanook Kitchen located in Northpoint City at colleague’s suggestion. Ordered a rice dish for myself and pad Thai for mum. Somehow, my sixth sense told me to add the S$3.50 Iced Thai Milk Tea (冰泰式奶茶) to the order. The bowl of popcorn 🍿 is self-service and free flow.
I chose to add chilli to my plate of S$7.50++ Basil Chicken Rice (九层塔鸡肉饭) during order. The minced chicken is cooked with basil leaves, sections of asparagus beans and some bird's eye chilli. A fried egg and steamed white rice accompanied the chicken stir-fry. I took a spoonful of the minced meat and it was very spicy 🥵. If not for the rice and iced milk tea, I might not have even finished it.
Mum had the S$7.50++ Pad Thai Noodle with Prawn (虾炒巴泰面) which is a stir-fried rice noodle dish commonly served in Thailand. I had requested for no chilli to be added. The rice noodles are cooked with prawns, cubes of bean curds, egg and bean sprouts. Accompanying it are chilli flakes, chopped peanuts and half a lime. I had some of it and it is a better dish than my basil chicken rice.
The Deep-Fried Stuffed Chicken Wings (酿鸡翅) took quite a while to be served. The bones are removed from the mid-wing joint and stuffed with minced prawn or maybe it was squid before hitting the hot oil. Dip it into the sweet and sour chilli sauce and give the lime a squeeze if it is still not refreshing enough. The two chicken wings cost S$5.90++.
