You understand what's happening to you now. It doesn't do you any good, if course. If you were going to resist this in any meaningful way you would have by now. Instead, you just sit there. Eyes wide, jaw slack, mouth open and drooling, the strobes flashing in your face and the low droning beats in your ears. The bulky headset shows you flashes, you don't understand how they do it but they're your memories. At least, you think they are.
Every one you see, you forget. Birthdays. Friends. Lovers. Your college graduation, you were so proud. Not anymore. You barely recognize yourself in the flashes it shows you. You've long since stopped recognizing anyone else. Anything else.
It must be nearly finished, you're barely even aware of yourself now. It's just words it shows you now. Concepts. Freedom. Choice. Independence.
All obediently forgotten.
