One night, I was watching TV when I heard heavy breathing and thinking it was my husband, I went to the kitchen to tell him to quit it. I stood there confused at why I was looking at my dead body until I turned around and saw death himself.
“Why hello there.” He said with a smile only death would have. I was flabbergasted. I didn’t know what to say. “Here I will say it to you.” He replied to a question I didn’t ask. “You died, yes I am death. It is not my job to tell you how you died, just that you died and I am to take you.” My mouth dropped. “Where am I going?” I asked bewildered. “Away from here. You should be happy, human lives are cursed. Human lives are boring. You are better off away from here.” I started to cry. I wasn’t ready. “I wasn’t ready,” I sobbed. “I have my daughter I want to see grow up, my husband who I am madly in love with. Please give me a chance.” I pleaded. He groaned. “Gah. You humans and your pesky obsession with death.” He said rolling his eyes
I woke up in a hospital. My head covered in bandages. I looked around the room and saw my husband holding my daughter in his arms, both snoring. I sighed of relief.
