“Midnight Conversations”

[During “Ruff Transition” Dragons: Race To The Edge Season 6 Episode 7]

[The camera fades from Atali and Ruffnut in Atali’s bedroom to a lookout post, focusing on a familiar wingmaiden, sitting on the edge of the wooden platform, looking mildly bored. Minden sighs, and rests her chin in her palm, then, someone walks into frame behind her.]

Snotlout [Sitting down]: Hey Mindo.

Minden [Perks up and the sound of his voice, turns to him]: Snotlout!

Snotlout: Atali gave you another boring job?

Minden [shakes head]: Look-out duty is important…

Snotlout: But boring.

Minden: You’re not… incorrect.

[She sets her hand down on the wooden platform. Snotlout glances at her face, then back at her hand, and then, hesitantly, sets his own hand atop hers.]

Snotlout: Maybe you just need the right company.

[Both are blushing now, not making eye contact. They sit in silence for a few moments. The air is tense.]

Minden: I’ve lived on this island my whole life… I love being a Wingmaiden, but sometimes I wonder…

[They turn to face each other, join hands properly]

Minden cont’d: What else is out there, Snotlout?

[A beat]

Snotlout: You know… the great beyond isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Me and the other Dragon Riders have nearly died, like, a thousand times.

Minden: But you get to travel! Leave your island in the name of discovery and adventure! Protecting dragons, with the people you love…

Snotlout [Defensively]: Pssh, you think I love Ruffnut? Fishface?

[Minden’s Razorwhip decides now is the time to make its presence known, and BITES Snotlout’s ear.]

Snotlout cont’d: Ow! Okay, okay! I love them all, even Fishface… sheesh.

[Minden chuckles in amusement. There’s another beat.]

Minden: You’re more heartfelt than you let on, Snotlout Jorgensen

Snotlout [blushing]: Yeah, well, don’t go telling everyone. I have a reputation to uphold. Strong Viking Warrior.

[Another beat, then Minden leans over and presses a KISS to Snotlout’s cheek. He looks flustered for a moment. He has no idea what to do when a girl actually LIKES him.]

Snotlout cont’d: You know… you’re uh, you’re welcome to do that… whenever you feel like it… I don’t mind…

[The Razorwhip BITES him AGAIN]

Snotlout cont’d: OW! This thing hates me, I swear!

[End Scene]

Grown up Snotlout Jorgensen who gets a butterfly tattoo to symbolise how much he's changed and grown over the years, and to prove a point that he can still be a strong viking warrior and have a traditionally feminine design on his arm because he's grown past the misogyny that used to shape him.

...And also because I think Minlout are Smitten/Vulnerable coded...

Just watched chain of command and figured I'd ask

Opinions on Minden and Minlout?

Ooooo good one!!! As a character i think Minden is really fun. Good potential, a bit underused in the rest of the show, but a fun side character nonetheless! I like how she and Snotlout bond over their struggles, it feels pretty natural.

Not certain if I like the ship tho? It's such a one time thing. I can see where it would come from from the both of them, but also??? It feels like a very short situationship that's broken off in 2 days LMAO and then snotlout is petty over it for a month.

I would love them to be besties tho, i think that dynamic could really work. But for me, there's just a lot more snotlout ships that scratch the drama itch just a lot more. It's just not my cup of tea. Minden is cool tho!!!!!

What are your thoughts on it? Would love to know!!

What’s your opinion on Minden? Cause personally, I think she and Snotlout deserve to be penpals

I really love her. I loved how much drive she had and the Snotlout parallels were so good. Them being pen pals is canon in my head now.

(I don’t ship them, personally, Snotlout didn’t even react when she kissed him and they never say they’re together after that (also immediately after they ‘get together’ Snotlout starts crushing on Ruff) so I think it was a heat of the moment type thing for Minden and Snotlout kinda new that. (Aside from that, the part in the finale where she comes in and salutes to him and he goes ‘that’s my girl!’ Is so so so so cute and I love it))
