If you do your best in every moment, then there is no need to worry, because you’ve performed your absolute best. If you’ve done all you can do, the responsibility, the weight, is off your shoulders. Worried about your partner, friend, or family member? Do your best to be present, receptive, and supportive. Always support their autonomy and efficacy, and only give your own advice if they need it. Once you’ve done all you can do, the worry is out of your hands. You have a new job? Do your absolute best to perform, and then the responsibility, the performance anxiety, is gone, because there is nothing more to do after you’ve done your absolute best... So how can you do your best in each moment? Well, every moment is a new opportunity for action. If your mind is wandering in the past or future, you are not fully ready to react to the present opportunity. Thus, the path to best action is through mindfulness of the present. With this comes a sense of competence and readiness. This is the way of the mindful warrior, whose courage is seen in the warrior’s drive to face every situation, whether that situation brings with it suffering or bliss.
