At first it’s to indulge her, they want her to be happy and she loves them and she wants to say it again and again. But it trails into some delicate part of them, that realizes it has never heard those words from another person before, not meaningfully anyways, and they just… need to hear it again, to make sure it’s real… please let it be real. But it just… starts hurting…
