Erik hadn’t been sleeping — again. He had tried, of course he had tried. He always tried, but far too often, he found himself awake. It was usually a good thing, though, as no sleep meant that he escaped the possibility of nightmares. 

And it was fine that he was awake because no one else was. Except for the fact that apparently someone else was awake, that someone being Charles. Who had, for some reason, decided to come into his room. Hopefully there was no cause for concern, and Charles had simply wanted to visit with him? In the middle of the night? Erik didn’t care about how stupid that sounded, it was what he was going with.

“Charles. Are you — did you need something?”
