I know I just met you but imagine this

Archie gets adopted by a modded player who has no idea what an illager is and just picks him up and says, "This is my son now I will kill anyone who dare objects. Good day." and proceeds to walk off with him.

Bonus points if the player uses the Tinker's construct mod to spoil Archie with op weapons.

Archie practicing hunting with his grandpa. Matias patiently instructs him how to quickly dispatch a wild boar.

"Aim for the brain or strike for the throat, you want to end things soon to reduce risk of injury." He whispers.

His grandson fumbles the crossbow shot and angers the boar, which comes charging full throttle at the pair of them. Matias shields Archie with a snarl and grabs the ferociously struggling animal by the tusks, wrenching it around and snapping its neck. Archie is a shaking mess but Matias comforts him with a big hug.

"This is a good lesson."

"I was so scared...I'm not like you."

Matias immediately sits down with him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"But I WAS afraid, Archie! Afraid for you! I have decades of experience to draw upon for fighting and hunting. It is second nature to me my dear boy, but you are only on your second hunt! Do not be so harsh on yourself, and do not mistake confidence for a lack of fear. Come, let us go back home." Matias slings the boar over his shoulder.

Archie gets up and travels with him closely.

"In time you will hunt boars, deer, and so much more..." Matias chuckles darkly. Archie know what he was referring to and that scared him more than any boar ever could. Humans, Villagers, Piglins...

"Why can't we just stick to the woods and leave them all be?"

"Archie, we are illagers! The world and its inhabitants are ours for the taking! We are at the top of the food chain."

Archie gives him an extremely unimpressed stare.

"Well I just won't then."

"Nonsense! One day you will."

Archie made up his mind on the spot.

"No matter how many times you will try and make me, I won't."

"We shall see about that."

Alex and Archie Chapter 1

Alex was crouched outside of a massive tree and investigating around the roots. The small illager she had chased from the Village bakery had darted into this space. His diminutive stature was annoyingly good for wriggling into areas off limits to most, but now she had him cornered.

She shined a light into the pitch black spot and saw a pair of red eyes reflecting back at her, and was reminded of a cat. Alex could hear the frantic breathing and he was growling in a vain attempt to scare her off; and sounded about as intimidating as a lion cub. Never before had she seen a mature illager of this size and wondered if he was part of an undiscovered sub species.

"You're going to give me back the gold and emeralds you stole right now. Where are your cohorts? Waiting to ambush me? Well I have a surprise for them and for you." Alex reached in to try and grab the miniature monster but only received multiple claw swipes at her hand and arm.

She withdrew and exhaled through her teeth, counting to 10. He was clearly not a vicious patrol soldier, nor a raider, and certainly not a hunter. He had been solely focused on food and money, a swift thief getting by probably going from Village to Village. No other illagers appeared to be present...this little fella was alone.

"Look man, I'm really not in the mood for games. If you give me back what you took I will let you go unscathed, as truth be told I have never seen such a pathetic illager in my life. But if I see you around here again I will not be as kind." She sighed as irritation mounted.

A small bag of gold coins and an emerald were tossed at her. Alex raised an eyebrow and held out her other hand.

"ALL of it except for the food. My patience is far from infinite." Three more Emeralds were tossed along with a diamond wedding ring. And a dagger with a ruby in the handle.

"Good. I am giving you space now and backing up and then I want you gone from here immediately afterwards. Understood?" He made a grumble and she took that as an agreement.

Once she had retreated to the opposite side of the clearing she saw a gray blur dart from the hiding spot and bound through the brush, heading away from her as swiftly as a fox. Alex stared after him hoping he would heed her words. Illagers were wicked, dangerous monsters but for some reason she got a different vibe from this one.
