Melifera's Birth and the Creation of Para Sanar
Once, long long ago, before the sea gods swam or the sky gods flew, Melifera was born on an endless planet as the only thing besides the rivers and trees.
She wandered her home alone for eons before a strange feeling began to sit heavy in her chest. With every passing day, the feeling grew stronger and stronger. The young bee feared she could be dying, and so as the sun set one night, she called out to the universe for help.
The universe, being a loving mother to her daughter, answered her cry. She cradled the young goddess in her hand and listened to her child's confusion and worries.
With care, she stroked the young goddesses face, gently reassuring her.
"I know how to help you, my needy bee."
Melifera watched as TheEverlasting reached up and plucked a shooting star out of the night sky.
She offered it to Melifera.
"Eat this, and you will find what plagues your heart and mind."
The bee gladly accepted the gift, letting her mother feed it to her. As soon as the warm star passed her lips, she knew what was wrong.
The young goddess learned of loneliness and how, as far as she could reach into her soul, it grazed her with its icy touch. She had no one to share this beautiful world with, and it hurt worse than any wound.
It hurt now, worse than it ever had. Its dull ache flared into a flame raging within her, burning her from the inside out.
Wailing in agony, she cried to the universe again for help, to bring her suffering to an end. The universe only watched as her tears fell, flooding the land and causing the rivers to swell. Her tears made oceans and brought life to the species we know today. Her cries were the thunder and lightning that still echoes today. New gods sprang out from the newly formed waters, the skies, and mountains. As she finally dried her eyes, the universe cooed, gently lifting her head.
"My sweet bee, look at what you've done." As Melifera looked around her, she witnessed the life she had created. Despite all that she had made, the young goddess still felt the deep loneliness tugging at her soul.
The universe laughed as Melifera's face twisted into a grimace before telling her she had one more gift.
"You only have to find it first," she placed a hand to her daughters chest, "this pull will guide you to your other half, and then you will feel complete."
With her guidance, the universe caressed her daughters face once more before she sent her on her way in search of the extension of her soul. For in every world where there is life, death accompanies them.
Mom is the best. But it always makes me sad to hear about what it was like for her so long ago. It's nice that she has all of us now. I never really understood the last part of the story, though. The part about death. I have a few possible ideas about God's it might be. There's a couple having to do with death, but they're pretty mysterious. Also, every time I try to bring it up to Mel, she just looks super uncomfortable! How am I supposed to document any history if she's just going to sigh her way through conversations! Whatever. I'll look into it.
