Just some history! MineCraftChick on QubeTubers.com during the IndieWeekend
This young woman's story is amazing.
A little over a year ago, this struggling young woman discovered a game that would change her life: MineCraft. Here's how.
She started playing the game and loved it immediately. It was creative and adventurous, things she excels at. A little over a year ago, she decided to post "Let's Play" videos of herself learning how to play MineCraft to YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/MinecraftChick). The videos were funny, and she was self-deprecating, sweet, and goofy. The MinecraftChick channel garnered thousands of followers. In fact, she could perhaps be indirectly credited for part of the success of Minecraft, and certainly an important part of the Minecraft fan community.
About eight months ago (the dates are a little fuzzy in my head), MCC (as she's come to be called) lost her job. She hasn't explained fully what she'd been doing, or what happened (and it's truly none of my business), but she was out of a job for a while and eventually had to move back in with her parents.
Mojang (producers of Minecraft) heard of her plight, and appointed her "Director of Fun," making her responsible for organizing MineCon, the big convention for the official release of Minecraft on 11/18/11. She worked from her home in Florida, and from all accounts (I wasn't there), did a fantastic job.
Now, Mojang has moved her to Stockholm, Sweden (where Mojang is headquartered). The above link is her new Tumblelog of her adventures in Sweden.
Give her a follow. At the worst, you will see the adventures of a talented young woman in a foreign land at the job of a lifetime. You'll learn a bit about Swedish culture, and she takes fantastic photographs of the landscape and the architecture in Sweden.
Trust me, you won't be sorry.
Sleepy Saturday
Today made me realize that I should not stay inside all day. Especially not eating pizza and watching sad love movies. Yeah. Bad Lydia. Last night I went to bed way too late (5) and didn't wake up until 15:00 which is REALLY bad considering it gets dark here at about 15:30. So no light + cold + pizza + sad love move = not being productive in the least. Okay, that's not entirely true. I actually did two things today.
#1 - iChat with Lan and made this masterpiece. I call this:
The Many Faces of Lan
#2 - Midway through the movie I was watching (title: Once), I decided to record myself singing the main song from it. I used the H2N (which is pretty much the perfect microphone and is also a recorder) and Garage Band. Of course the song is sad sounding... it was that kind of day. Anyway, it didn't turn out too bad. I basically recorded myself a few times and tried to mess with it to make it sound more like something that was actually producing. I need to work on my Garage Band skills though.

It ends kind of abruptly. Oops. It's far far far from perfect, but I miss singing.
Tomorrow I need to clean and go grocery shopping, but I also want to go out for about 2 hours to just walk around and see things. Also, to shoot pictures for tomorrow's blog post.
What would be another good song to record? (Maybe I should pick Swedish songs to practice).
I'm really so done with this community (Minecraft)
I'll just say it. If Notch pisses you off with his updates, stop playing. If you're upset you paid him for what you claim is a shitty game, don't recommend it to your friends. Just stop.
Furthermore, Notch's actions after MineCon has no affect on my opinion on him. Really, who cares? People tweet stupid shit 24/7 and we still stand by them. Whatever the problem behind Yogscast and Notch is, I'm sure they'll fix it behind closed doors now.
Notch stepped down from being the lead dev on Minecraft. Congrats, you guys got what you wanted! Minecraft will suddenly cater to your desires and update the game in the way you want it!!!! HOORAY BECAUSE THATS HOW COMPANIES WORK!!!! Not really. The game will continue in the way it was moving. (Sadly, I've already seen people rant that apples will drop from trees in a 1/200 chance. Right, a .5 percent chance is a lot.)
And lastly, this pisses me off more than anything. People who rag on MinecraftChick because of her weight. Honestly, I could not give any fewer fucks about her weight. I think she's a beautiful woman with a fun, bubbly personality and a great ass. Yeah, it was said. She's fucking hot. Evaluate yourselves before you pass judgement on somebody else.
My askbox is always open, I'm down for discussion.
During the closing of the ceremonies for Minecon 2011, Mojang’s Lydia ‘MinecraftChick’ Winters had a cute and sweet surprise for everyone in the audience, but especially just for two people. More » via wirebot.com
