Swarla Kisses Rated: Part 4 | based upon | part 1 | part 2 | part 3
We've come so far, y'all. Current totals at the start of this post: 35 on-the-lips kisses, 22 head kisses, 2 hand kisses, 9 cheek kisses, 1 neck kiss, 1 shoulder kiss, 1 set of blown kisses and 4 Janelle-you're-kinda-fucked-up rogues. Total kisses rated: 75!
73. "We had some unfinished business." (22 January 2026)
We're back from the war, y'all! Carla Connor said I can only be pigheaded for so long before I need to kiss Lisa's hungover little face and who can blame her? There's still so much talking and healing and therapy that needs to happen, but what a relief to be reminded of their compatibility - both emotionally and physically. The journey of Lisa's hands during this kiss makes my thawing heart flutter. 8/10
74. "But not too slow." (22 January 2026)
Tracy Barlow asked if Lisa was good in bed and Carla could not stop thinking about the answer. It's obviously yes. Her eyes are so green in this shot Lisa basically fell into them. All the whispers (and joy about them being reunited) almost make up for the fact that we can't see Lisa's face. Give me the pervert angle! 7/10 cause, for once, I'm not the only horny one here.
75. "You planning on getting dressed at all today?" (23 January 2026)
God, one night of banging being back together and everything about them is lighter. I know this hairstyle is for continuity and camera coverage purposes in a shot later in the episode, but I would die to see Carla's hair up more often. We didn't get to see the rings being put back on, but their track record bodes well for returning to their former domesticity in 0.2 seconds flat. I'm weak for how effortlessly they fit together. 10/10 and you know why.
76. "What're you doing?" "Spoilsport." (23 January 2026)
I would've actually burst into flames if Carla had managed to push Lisa up against the wall. The little shoulder thing Lisa does... they are so damn horny hot for each other?!?! Lisa's lip lick at the end of this kiss was a very necessary addition. I'd rate this higher in solidarity with the rest of the episode, but my brain is too busy imagining what this scene would look like if they hadn't been interrupted. 8/10
77. "You're a nosy parker, aren't ya?" (16 February 2026)
Detective Swain is on the case! Listen, I know y'all went crazy for the return of Carla Connor in a leather jacket buuuuut I'm so fucking gay for Lisa Swain looking like that on a regular ol' Monday morning. This kiss gets bonus points for the sheer aura of the fainting WLWs floating around them. 6/10 they can both lock me up dressed this way.
78. "That's a yes!" (16 February 2026)
Carla Connor was all of us when she took Polly Pocket Lisa's face in her hands and gritted her teeth so hard her jaw practically snapped. The way she cradles Lisa's tiny blonde head is so precious to me that I'm not even going to mention that this kiss was cut off for the flashback. See? I'm exhibiting so much self control. 8/10
79. "Not just in daytime telly, either." (4 March 2026)
WEE-WOO WEE-WOO DOMESTICITY POLICE. I've been living for the era of settled, happy milves since we caught our first glimpse of it back in that hotel room in December 2024. Carla's little smile at Lisa's quiet compliment. The effortless lean into each other. My street cred is destroyed by something so soft - I'm just a fucking puddle, y'all! 8/10
80. "You're very naughty, you know." (4 March 2026)
Is it homophobia that Lisa blew this kiss DIRECTLY BEHIND CARLA'S HEAD??? On the one hand, I'm grateful that their affection for each other is so obvious that the physicality becomes a very casual part of every scene. But on the other hand, I am a simple woman and surely we all know what I want by now. 1/10 cause I'm only a little irritated.
81. "I love you. Bye. Shhh." (25 March 2026)
Lisa Swain really said I can't keep my mouth shut around my pretty wife-to-be and she's so endearing for that. A friend once described that phenomenon as your "no one": the person everyone knows you're going to tell even if you've been told to tell no one. If that doesn't make your little queer heart swell, maybe Lisa's cheekbones when she says "Shhh" will. 7/10 cause she's cute and funny and in the doghouse.
82. "I'm sorry, darling, I've gotta -" "Go, it's okay." (26 March 2026)
Now I know this one is homophobic - it felt like a hate crime to gif this scene where the only reason I'm even aware there might've been a kiss is because of sound design. (Although, I'm not convinced it wasn't something added in post-audio and never shot.) At least the adorable tiny human was present to stare directly into the camera. 0/10 c'mon Corrie, you know I'm here for them to fuck nasty be a beacon of representation on British television.
83. "Ah, here she is." (8 April 2026)
Sleepy Swain said I'm gonna pop up on my tiptoes with my chin lifted for this kiss as soon as fucking possible and she's so real for that. The way Carla cradles her ponytail made my entire Tumblr dash feral for at least 3 business days after this kiss aired. Too bad Ali was sick during the filming of this episode cause that's a sweet, sweet angle for some on-the-lips kiss analysis. 9/10
84. "We need some time." (8 April 2026)
Things about this kiss that live rent-free in my mind: Carla's hand on Lisa's neck, the relieved and overwhelmed journey of Lisa's gaze, the pucker of Lisa's lips as Carla's kissing her cheek. AK and VM are so consistent with their physicality of these characters and I for one will never, ever tire of the little quirks they've given to Carla and Lisa. 9/10
85. "Right, love, I'm going to bed." (8 April 2026)
I'm a sucker for anytime a term of endearment pops up in their dialogue. Picture me as the human embodiment of that one meme where it just keeps getting better and better until you explode. I'm on that babe-darling-love-baby express to my own demise transcendence. Get me to the stars, ladies! 9/10
86. "Cause you're a hero." "Shut up." "You are." (16 April 2026)
It's a good thing Carla had such a vice grip on Super Swain for this kiss or she might've levitated right away at the nonchalance of this compliment. The cheek stroking? Lisa's face-stretching grin? The way she just stares at Carla for the entire fucking kiss? Lovergirl is flabberghasted she gets to marry this woman in a week and I love that for both of them (and all of us). Controversial maybe but I'm gonna call this a 13/10 even without any tongue action.
87. "You'll always be her auntie, you know." (19 April 2026)
DS Swain is the only human on earth brave enough to permeate the forcefield of a grumpy Carla Connor and she did it with just the teeniest, tiniest shoulder peck known to man. And Carla let her! The balance and respect and support that has formed in this relationship over the last year is my Roman Empire. We're giving this a 6/10 cause Lisa still has her head attached at the end of it.
88. "I love you." "...Love you." (19 April 2026)
I cried a little knowing Lisa went to work thinking she didn't make any cracks in Carla's walls even though she did! The only woman on earth to be able to soften Carla Connor is marrying her in less than a week!!!! Lisa is so precious for how long she holds head and hand kisses and I get it girl - I, too, would sniff Carla's hair given half the chance. 8/10
89. "I love you, Carla." "I love you. Thank you." (23 April 2026)
Thank you for your vows?!?!? Listen, if I wasn't gay before this moment, I surely would be after it. Was the thank you scripted? Not sure. Is it such a poignant juxtaposition of what queer love can be, should be, and hopefully is? You bet your ass. Any of these Coronation Street men could never be half the gentleman that Carla Connor is for her wife. I'm running down the street with all my WLW pride flags in tow and calling it the SWARLA parade. 11/10 you're all invited!
90. "...to declare Carla and Lisa: wife and wife." (23 April 2026)
Y'ALL THIS IS NOT A DRILL: OUR GIRLS ARE WIVES!!!! If you've been in any queer fandom before, you probably doubted we'd ever see the day this truly occurred. To have it include no life-threatening drama (for them) and to still have them make it to the finish line altar is something for the herstory books. I've waited a decade to see Kate Brooks accomplish this on an ITV soap. Grateful, thankful, glowing, BLESSED! 15/10 I hope we get to watch them cradle each others faces and hold onto each others asses shoulders as they kiss for the rest of their lives. 10 bonus points for how much Carla has to bend down to reach. 25/10
91. "Surprise!" (23 April 2026 - Behind the Scenes)
Three on-the-lip kisses in their wedding episode was apparently too much to ask for from the Coronation Street editing team. But not too much for the publicity team! I'm slightly bummed this sweet little peck didn't make it into the final edit because it would've been only the third instance we've seen any PDA from them in front of more than just their family unit (or a couple of people) and I think that is an important part of WLW representation. Queer love shouldn't have to be hidden behind closed doors! 3/10 everybody kiss your partner in the streets.
92. "It had to be you." (23 April 2026)
On the upside: the absolutely shit quality of this gif hides whatever the fuck was happening amidst the makeup on Lisa's cheek during this kiss. On the downside, Carla's beautiful hair blocks my view of the sleepy/drunken/relaxed/happy way they tipped into each other. In my wildest fanfic brain dreams, they stumbled home after this night and made love in that slow, meaningful way reserved for the heroine of your favourite romance novel. It's what we they deserve. 10/10
