Today on “My Brain is Fandom Soup” I just had an epiphany.
The first half of The Story of Minglan, especially the way Minglan’s revenge unfolded is exactly what I wish we could have gotten from Sansa’s time in the Red Keep.
I realize as a hostage, Sansa has even less agency than Minglan, and she doesn’t have the support that Minglan does with her grandmother, but the quiet way Minglan played dumb and honed her insight and let people underestimate her while meticulously laying traps that her enemies fell into due to their own greed and hubris, was just the most exquisitely done storyline I’ve ever seen. It was so satisfying.
And while I am incredibly doubtful we will ever get TWoW, much less ADoS, I would love to see Sansa come into her own and use the skills she learned from surviving in the hands of her abusers to take down her enemies through their own weaknesses. (I’m pretty much just talking about Cercei and Littlefinger here, they’re Sansa’s Concubine Lin.)
