The fact that Teddy had made an actual friend was a huge satisfaction she wanted to bask in, and she might have been able to if it weren’t for the fact that she had to return to school the next day and face Noah. It wasn’t exactly Noah that upset her, but the freaks how of an interaction they had last parted with. She felt a sense of anxiety bubble up from her stomach and clench in her chest when she saw him at his locker. She rehearsed in her head what she would say to him, keeping it simple and short. We need to study after school. Certainly she could handle that.

The mousey little brunette lifted an unsteady hand to tap on his shoulder, but the unmistakable feel of social dread she didn’t know she as giving off was probably a better signal of her presence. Suddenly her mouth tasted of tin and she couldn’t for the life of her remember that simple, streamlined question. “Oh, uh... Hi,” she squeaked. Her eyes shot to the floor, focusing on the loop of her boot lace. “I know, um... Chemistry? There were--you’ve got an assignment, a new one, and um... After school--the library is a good place that--” She had wanted so badly to pretend that their last interaction hadn’t happened at all, but instead she found herself whispering a question below the buzz of other students beginning their day. “I’m not crazy, right? Because I have to go to college, my parents said I have to go to college, and I can’t do that if I’m a crazy person!”
