random silly thought that just hit me: 

Emrakul is a Mushroom. 

I mean, it's obvious, but the totality of it hit me just now. Shaped like one, spreads like fungus... hell even can take over your mind like some types. The really scary thing to think about when you make that mental connection is how vast and alien feeling fungus is irl...
