Here we go
So I'm going to be real honest with all of you. (The some of you that for some reason have found my blog interesting enough to follow, thank you).
I am going through some sort of quarter life crisis. I don't really know what exactly I want to do in life. I find myself having to many bills/debts to actually book a trip somewhere. And I find myself working to often and my job not having enough staff to request time off to go some where (anywhere!).
My friend brought up "mini trips" today. Just going somewhere for like 3 days. So I'm tempted to take on this idea to adventure the America's. But seeing as being under 25 (just a few months, can I avoid the extra charges pleeeeeeease?!) I have to pay extra fees to rent a car and some places aren't very bike/walk friendly.
But I find myself more often than not wishing I was anywhere but here, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
If anyone has any advice please feel free to send it my way.
Love,
The mixed girl
Travel bugged.
So, here I am sitting on my desk on a balmy Wednesday afternoon, trying my hardest to keep my eyes open after having a glass of red wine over lunch, courtesy of my friend, Olivia.
Over the past few days, I have seriously been dithering over whether or not I should be getting a new iPad + keyboard, seeing that I’ve made plans to do more traveling in the coming months, and the iPad is supposed to make working on he road easier for me.
Then again, after test-running the iPad + keyboard at the store, I didn’t think that it was that easy to use for word processing and research. I reckon if I were to get it, I’d probably still opt to use my Macbook over it. Plus, it was just too pricey. I’d rather use the money to travel. And so, that’s exactly what I did!
I’ve always preferred to make big(ger) purchases by year-end, as there will be special offers practically everywhere. And since the ASB (local unit trust fund) dividend will be declared early in January, I find that it’s convenient to withdraw the dividends in time to pay for my credit card purchases by then.
Anyway, I’ve made more travel plans for 2017 and this time, instead of just mulling it over, I decided to just buy a bunch of flight tickets to places I’ve always wanted to visit. I’ll have plenty of time to figure out my itinerary and accommodation after that, I just need to get cheap flights first!
So, here are where I will be throughout 2017:
Hong Kong - 31st Dec to 4th January
Vietnam - 2nd to 8th March
Holy Land (Jordan & Jerusalem) - end of May to early June
Japan(!) - 15th - 23rd August
The Philippines - 21st - 25th September
All of these trips will be short, week-long ones mainly because I tend to miss work and my cat when I’m away (and I really don’t have many days of paid leave left). But hopefully, I’ll get myself used to longer trips in the future so that I can finally do the whole Trans-Siberian route for two months.
I bet I won’t be saving much this coming year, but heck, I’ve been working so hard these past five years. It’s time to reap what I’ve sown and reap ‘em well.
