Whumpy snippet even though I'm in a massive block rn
Backstory behind this written out clip of a maladaptive daydream:
[A] is a hero in a world of heroes and villains. [B] was his former coworker. They had a close relationship, but while everyone suspected they were dating, it was never more than platonic. They never had an interest in each other in that way. After an incident where another coworker leaves her for dead, [B] is found bleeding out and alone by [C]. Even though [C] knows that [B] is a hero (and [C] is a villain), he pities her and takes her in. Obviously [B] has a hard time trusting any heroes besides her long time friend [A] now. [A] eventually finds out that [B] is alive, and not dead as the public (and him) were informed. He decides to not turn [C] in, solely for [B]'s sake. Unfortunately, in an attack between the heroes and an opposing set of villains, [B] and [C] get caught in the crossfire.
-----
[A] had been passing an alleyway on his way to a better vantage point when he heard sobbing.
Hushed, panicked sobbing.
Familiar hushed, panicked sobbing.
"No no no no no- you can't! You can't!"
There was no mistaking the voice for [B]'s. That was for sure. He pressed his back to the wall as a groan of pain and another voice drifted around the corner.
"Why're you cryin'? I thought you liked it when I pretended to have morals." The words were snarky, but the voice was slurred and clearly in pain. [B] let out a choked laugh.
"Not when you're bleeding out in my arms and-"
"I wouldn't want it to be you."
[A] peered around the corner. [B] was sitting on the ground with a man bleeding out in her arms- no, a villain. A puddle of blood was starting to stain the hair that had fallen in. [B] sat and held him, tears dripping down her cheeks.
"What happened?" [A] stepped from around the corner, causing [B] to jump, which in turn sent [C] into a fit of pain.
"You trying to make this worse than it is? Quit moving, dumbass!" [C]'s groans fell on deaf ears.
"[A]! Please- I know he's a villain- but please, you gotta help! I'm begging you, I'll do an-"
"I asked what happened." [A]'s voice was steady.
"Tell your ex to fuck off." [C] started. "Don't want him around to ruin my poetic death."
"I got shot at, but he pushed me down and- and- Please, help-!" Her words were hurried and incomplete.
[A] glanced between the two. [B] was a wreck, covered in someone else's blood and sobbing. And [C]? Well, [A] was somewhat surprised of the tenderness in his voice before he'd seen the hero. Snarky remarks or not, his words were full of adoration.
"Fine. Get him up, I know someplace you can go where you can heal without being found."
Mini whump: tw abuse
Harley having a problem with slamming doors. She always grew up with her father slamming a door when he was angry but it only got worse with Joker. Joker would slam doors all the time, sometimes in her face. Needless to say she associates the slam with pain.
Ivy learns the hard way that she shouldn't slam doors around her.
Idea: Harley having a problem with doomscroling through social media. She keeps on looking through profiles of her old classmates from university and seeing the life they live now compared to her. Most of them chose other mental institutions like Blackgate or Bludhaven. Harley specifically choose Arkham to fast track her career.
They're all happy and rich, living their life to the fullest. Some of them even owned Yachts for crying out loud.
And she's stuck as the Jokers ex punching bag. True she's with Ivy and has moved on from her former life she can't help but wonder what might have been if she didn't choose the asylum.
Mini whump: Ivy was kidnapped by Joker and is kept beneath a stage. Harley comes to her rescue but before Harley can find her she's confronted by the Joker. There's a scuffle, the sound of them beating each other into a bloody pulp. Ivy can hear them both yelling at each other to drop the fucking gun before a single shot fires off. Blood seeps through the cracks in the wooden stage floorboard. Tiny droplets drip onto her face as she tries to make out who won.
