I miss thrifting but little free libraries help fill the void. They're also free.
I plan my bicycle exercise rounds so that I pass one or two of these and I can maybe find a new cool book. And get rid of another.
Little free libraries are just that: weatherproof book cases standing around in public where anyone can take and deposit books for free. Volunteers put them up and maintain them.
There are loads of these where I live, but you just need to know where they are. There are websites where you can look them up.
Even if you live in an apartment you can create one of these, I've seen people put book cases next to the elevators so anyone entering the building can have a look. They don't even need weatherproofing in that case!
They might also go by different names in your country. In the Netherlands, they're called "minibieb".
Links and resources are in the first reblog. You can look up where they are near you, and get some tips on creating your own.
