12. Things you said when you thought I was asleep

(this takes place right after the events of Iron Man 3)

Phantom pains were still common, even though Extremis had been purged from her system for weeks now.  Sometimes Pepper swore she could feel fire shooting through her veins, could sense the ungodly power in her core.  She hated it, not just for the feeling, but because she could see the panic and guilt in Tony’s eyes every time her breath hitched.

“I’m here,” she murmured each time.  “I’m okay.”

Though Tony never said it aloud, the words were written clearly on his face: Because of me, you almost weren’t.

He stuck closer to her than usual nowadays, taking every opportunity he could to touch her hand or steal a kiss.  It was as if he was afraid of one day soon losing her for good.  Though Pepper wasn’t complaining, it saddened her to think how much this was still affecting Tony.  She knew he didn’t sleep much, and when he did, he was quickly awakened by nightmares Pepper didn’t dare ask about.

It got to the point where Pepper was losing sleep, too.  She never mentioned it to Tony, though.  He didn’t need the extra guilt.  Instead she pretended to still be sound asleep, subtly scooting closer into Tony in the hopes that her presence would calm him. 

Pepper feared one night that she had been caught in her ruse, because she heard Tony whisper her name.  She kept still just in case, controlling her breaths to be deep and steady.

“I’m so sorry, Pepper,” Tony continued.  “I’m a mess.”  Pepper fought off the tears that briefly stung her closed eyes.  “I’ll make it right again.  I promise,” Tony continued.  “And as soon as I’m back on my feet, I’m going to ask you to marry me.”

The words jostled her so much that there was no way she could pretend to be asleep anymore.  Her body jolted and her eyes flew open.  Tony cursed under his breath.  “You heard all of that?”

“You want to marry me?”  Pepper sat up a little, propping herself up on her elbows.

Tony’s gaze met hers.  “Of course I do.  I love you, Pep.  I can’t do this without you.”

Pepper wiped away the moisture that gathered in the corners of her eyes, though her voice betrayed how close she was to openly weeping.  “I love you, too.”

“Is that a yes, then?”  The tiniest hint of a smirk played at Tony’s mouth.

“Is that what you call a real proposal?” Pepper countered with a raised eyebrow.  

Tony chuckled.  “Alright, pretend you didn’t hear that and I’ll do it properly later.”

Pepper leaned in and kissed him softly.  “Good.  Because then I can give you a proper yes.”

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): I like to believe he’s the little spoon with his beloved wife Abbacchio, and he’s an early bird

What music they enjoy: Although it is canon that his fav artist is Miles Davis, i like to think he loves some good old Nancy Sinatra/Dalida kind of songs(his fav: Bang bang) or smooth piano jazz

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: My boy likes to pamper and look classy (like the whole Passione gang… Or just like every Jojo character) so he takes like 1h and a half to get ready? i mean look at him

Their favorite thing to collect: He likes to collect seashells that he picks up with Abbacchio from time to time (coz they live together by the sea ofc)

Left or right-handed: Ambidextrous ?? (very original)

Religion (if any): He’s Agnostic

Favorite sport: He likes soccer, (like the majority of Italians), he also likes to watch Tennis from time to time and really enjoys baseball

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): As the fashionista he is, he really likes to go shopping but also museums coz he loves art!!! (especially renaissance paintings/sculptures)

Favorite kind of weather: He loves Summer above all coz it allows him to go boating with his adorable wife

A weird/obscure fear they have: Not a weird fear but he’s really afraid of losing his children (Passione) and won’t hesitate sacrificing for their sakes, beside that, he’s freaking out about becoming bald one day

The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: He’s not really into arcade games but he sometimes likes to play with Mista and Narancia, lately he’s gotten really good at street fighter

🎀any question you want  mmm, I’ll answer the one about a scary/creepy experience. It’s actually pretty hilarious.

So my friend and I were on a trampoline at my neighbor’s house. We were probably like 13 or 14 at the time? And the adults were all having some Boring Adult Party, while the kids were left to find their own form of entertainment. Hence the trampoline.

Anyway after a while we ended up just lying down on it on our backs and cloud-watching. The sun was setting, so it was getting darker. Because we were immature young teens, we were laughing about how this one set of clouds looked like a bra, and pretending it was god’s bra lol. 

Right as we made that joke though, we both heard a man’s voice – no one from the party inside, definitely unfamiliar and coming from the woods – yell “WHERE ARE YOU?”

My friend and I froze, looked at each other, and immediately bolted off the trampoline and into the house.

So yeah that was the time god yelled at us for making fun of his bra xD
