[Realizes what he’s doing and looks up from her book] …Having fun?
[Looks up and wedges a bright blue flower into one of her helm seams.] Heh, yeah. [He checks his internal clock as he begins folding another sheet.] Oh hey, I think the glass is done settin' for your optic! [He bustles into the next room and returns with the little lens cradled in his servo.]
[Makes origami lilies out of colored paper and arranges them on Nightgear's belly.]
"When is the last time you slept?"
Uh….. [She takes longer than a moment to calculate how long it’s been, her systems chugging sluggishly.]
………..Maybe a couple of days ago? I f-feel fine, really. [She’s not fooling anyone.]

You’re running yourself ragged. Go sleep.
'Scuse me, ma'am, but I think you're supposed to be relaxin' right now. Want me to get a movie for you?

If I weren’t banged up like I am now, I’d consider playing it with you.
Wouldn't you rather sit off to the side 'n' laugh when I fail at skatin' 'n' fall on my aft?
[SQUINTING]
MOTHER
[Nightgear can’t even express how much of a relief it is for her pain sensors to be shut off, a hissing sigh of relief the closest noise she can make. Still, her world is wrapped in a hazy fog that makes it hard for her see or hear, Houston’s faceplate swimming in and of focus through her cracked optics, his voice muffled as if he were speaking to her through a wall.
Primus how she hates that he had to see her this way. It would haunt him, she knew, but it was far better than him or Wavelength discovering her dead. At least this way, there was a chance she’d recover. But there was no way in Hell she would tell him how she had ended up this way. The same could happen to him or worse. It wasn’t worth it.
[She gives him the weakest nuzzle, vocalizer crackling just as it had on the comm.] I’m s-kzzt-ry…I should h-have been -zzt!- c-c-careful…
Nngh... [Houston grits his dentae and presses his faceplate to the smooth metal of her helm, servo shaking as he curls his digits against her jaw. Optic lubricant stings his sensors and he forces a few tight breaths through his vents before he tears his helm away from hers, scrubbing at his tears so he can focus on his duties. He sets his jaw and stabilizes her energon flow to her extremities, releasing the transformation on her legs so she can stretch out over the medical berth. Raising the edges of the berth up to mimic a shallow tub, he turns on the nanite-infused solvent jets and has her lie in the fluid as he retrieves a long roll of tightly woven mesh and a handful of energon tube material. He works quickly to seal up her slashed lines, and soon her energon is stable. Her protoform is already on the road to recovery thanks to the nanite bath, but her faceplate...] I-m-- [His voice catches in his vocalizer and he has to clear it out with a painful breath.] I'm gonna need to... Remove your optic 'n' put a patch 'til I can repair it... Night, when I stitch up your faceplate, you can't smile for a week.... I mean it.
