Page 23. ---- One of the Victims Was Killed Instantly --- Kirkland Lake, April 13 - John Matchuck was instantly killed and Marko Silichich died later at Kirkland district hospital after an explosion at the Lake Shore mine last Tuesday, when the drill they were using hit an unblasted hole in the rock. Both men had nearly finished their night shift when the accident occurred.
A priest attended Silichich at the hospital two hours before he died, his wife visiting him twice before his death. Dr. G. M. Cameron, Lake Shore mines surgeon, attended the men.
Silichich, 30, leaves a wife and baby. Arrangements for Matchuck’s funeral were made by the Lake Shore mines. He was a single man of about 28.
